I'VE NEVER HAD MUCH OF A SHEEP MENTALITY.
This post is not like my "usual" ones.
No satire, no funny twists, just some ...
For example: who is @smasssh?
Well, my real name is Jan. Officially it's Jan Willem.
The name of my father is Jan.
His father (my grandfather) was Jan Willem.
An uncle of mine once did a research about our family history.
For many many generations back, the first born has always been a boy.
So, as you can guess; the name of the father of my grandfather was again Jan
And so on, and so on.
Why I tell you this, you maybe ask yourself?
Well, my son's name is Dennis.
And not to deliberately annoy my father and grandfather (and believe me, they were pretty pissed off), but just because I liked that name so much more than Jan (Willem).
With having the above in mind, it won't be a surprise to you that I'm not participating in SPUD4. And neither I will in 5, 6 etc.
I like the initiative, nothing wrong with that.
But I'm not (almost never) following the herd.
I already powered up a couple of weeks ago.
And day before yesterday I believe, again a bit.

I do self-upvote, yes. Try to keep it between 10 and 15%. And I'm not ashamed of that.
As you can see on Steemworld ...
I've made about 926 SP on curation and some 1.819 SP on posts sofar.
Do the math yourself and you'll see that I've invested quite a bit as well. And also on much higher Steemprices than the current one.
This, and also the fact that the upvotes I give to others are in general above average, doesn't make me feel being ashamed at all.
So, to wrap up for now.

It was indeed interpreted as 'mean' at first by some in our family. But later on acceptance.
And my son named his son (again a first born btw) 'Mick', so tradition gone forever now.
Yeah, that toe incident, yesterday it was exactly a year ago it happened.

Here in the Netherlands Jan is really a boy's name. So with naming a daughter Jan could give her "troubles" later on growing up at school etc.

Ik vind dat als je ergens in investeert (of het nu is in geld, en/of in tijd (zoals het maken van een post)) dat je daar in alle redelijkheid ook jezelf een beetje voor mag belonen. Je "eigen" Blockbrother Exyle bijv. doet het ook.
Daarbij komt ook nog dat door je self vote vergaar je ook meer SP, waarmee je uiteindelijk anderen ook weer een hogere upvote kan geven.
Welk percentage selfvoten redelijk is moet uiteindelijk ieder voor zich bepalen.
En als jij niet buiten de (mogelijke) prijzen van Asher's wekelijkse challenge wilt vallen, moet je niet self voten.
Maarruuuh, misschien ben je door deze aanvullende info nu nog wel meer in de war ...
