Is Money Really Important In A Relationship?

While it’s not a politically correct thing to say, the fact is that money is, and always will be, important in a relationship. Because of the control that money has on what we can and can’t do, it’ll always influence our romantic lives, too. Here’s 5 reason why this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, why a career is a must for anyone in a relationship, and why the money factor is also inescapable:

  1. EVERYONE NEEDS TO EAT.
We all have certain needs that have to be met. We need food. We need clean water. We need shelter. We need clothes. If we don’t have these things, we are not going to be happy (or alive). You can’t live on love alone, and if you’re both broke and can’t work together to earn enough, it will not be easy to stay together.

  2. HOW YOUR PARTNER HANDLES MONEY IS VERY TELLING OF THEIR CHARACTER.
Irresponsibility is not sexy, nor is the kind of behavior that leads a couple to homelessness. In other words, how they use their money tells you a lot about what your future will be like with them. If they spend all your cash and/or refuse to get a job, you can bet that you’ll probably feel used at times.

  3. A JOB SHOWS MOTIVATION AND GOALS.
If there’s anything that’s really a major turn-off, it’s seeing a person who has no life goals, no motivation to better themselves, and no interest in making a name for themselves. A great career shows that you want to be someone — and that you want to go places.

  4. SURE, MONEY CAN’T BUY CLASS, BUT IT CAN BUY ELEGANCE.
In other words, dating someone who is well-off means that you’ll have a lot more options to enjoy the finer things in life.

  5. MONEY ALSO GIVES YOU THE POWER TO LEAVE A BAD RELATIONSHIP.
Money really is power. It gives you options, and not just on where you can go out for a date. Without having an income, it becomes extremely difficult to leave a bad relationship — especially if you’re living together. By having your own money, you’re allowing yourself the freedom to leave an abusive or toxic relationship at your own leisure.
