Get to Know Me - I can't wait...

I can't wait

to live in a world where people choose love over fear.

Where Freedom is recognized and respected as everyone's right

to live their life however they want

as long as it does not impact anyone else's right

to do the same with theirs.
When we start realizing that the Earth is not owned by anyone,

and if we care and nurture it,

it will do the same for us.
We are all far more alike than we are different,

each of us is a beautiful representation of life

and an expression of what limitless possibility can create.
I have no more right to tell you how to live your life,

than you do to tell me how to live mine.
When we start living from that place,

and come together to collaborate and cooperate on solving the worlds problems,

I believe the world we live in today will become a memory,

replaced by the full beauty,

of a world created by a fully awake and conscience species.

It all starts with just a simple choice

between love and fear.

I've really started to view Steemit as my little home on the web. Over the years I've created content in many places, but I really want to gather it all here. So I've decided to start posting my old poems, thoughts, songs opinions, pictures, and other such things to my home here on the blockchain. It'll be a little living piece of me that anyone can go back and check out if they ever want to catch a glimpse of who I am, but more importantly to me, it will also be a place for me to look back on my journey and to record those things that matter. I've decided to post under a few different themes depending on the content I'm sharing.

One of those themes will be "Get to Know Me."

This is the first of these posts and I'll be using them to share content that reflects my perspective on this crazy trip called life. It'll also be clear to those that don't want to "Get to Know Me" to just skip on by!

I wrote the poem above with aspirations for now, that also allow for a vision that will likely take centruies to manifest. I'm an idealist and a realist.

The picture also strongly resonated with me when I first saw it. I don't really identify with blind allegiance to anything. My allegiance fiercly lies with the values, ideas and actions that promote freedom and individual liberty. Values that honor life and respect everyone's right to it.

I don't agree with the idea that because you're born some place on this planet, by default, you must forefeit individual freedom for whatever given laws and regulations that little slab of land has deemed appropriate, or else face the threat of violence. The idea that loyalty towards a country, government or religion should always come before common sense and reason has never felt true for me.

As a quick example, the idea that borders exist and that I am not free to travel anywhere I want on this planet, whenever I choose to do so, seems so foreign to me. What right does anyone have to tell another person that they can't go somewhere on this planet? We are life, we are human, we are an integral part of something amazing! This planet is our birthright, our playground, our canvas, our teacher, our inspiration, our sustenence and our witness as we playout what our expression of life looks like when brought into reality.

From the moment of our birth we are brought up in a box. A box that tends to do a very good job at making you think that it's a great place to be. That it's better than all the other boxes out there. That it's a box worth fighting for. Sure, it might have it's problems, but what box doesn't? We're always working to make a better box, so everyone in the box can have a better life.

It all sounds good and well, but I just don't want to be in a box.

I just want to live. To live free. To walk any path that I feel called to in this short space of time that I'm given, as long as it respects that same right for others. I want everyone to have that blank slate. To bring to life the potential that our glimpse of existence provides. Because I believe that the beauty and joy that can be realized from that potential is pretty much heaven.
