What Makes Us Human?

in #life6 years ago

Yesterday I read the stories of two Humans @mammasitta and @steemtruth. Stories about how these Humans take care of their elderly parents:
1. Radical Imagination! Begin To Talk To Your Wishes. Fighting The Red Dragon Of Ego!
2. Caring for a Dying Parent That I Don't Like!

These two Humans are the best role models for me. I'm proud that next to me on steemit there are such Humans!

Each of us has a number of qualities that characterize us as a Human. Someone is more kind, sincere, just. Someone on the contrary is full of bile and anger. But we are all people. True, there are two understandings of the word human. You can understand the word "man" as a biological species, a representative of a squad of mammals. But so reason scientists who see the human race as a species. In fact, a human is a being who possesses will, intelligence, and higher feelings, if viewed from a less rational and more sensible position. It is our feelings that make us people, create our moral image, characterize us as a person. And to match the high title of "HUMAN", we need to have in ourselves such qualities as mercy and compassion.

It is charity and compassion for another being that makes us more humane, in the understanding of morality. All scientists, writers, poets, clergy and the public are sure of this. But what is charity, and how to show compassion, little is said about this. Let's try to figure out together what really makes us human and what is the role in this charity and compassion.

Mercy is directly related to the concept of compassion. Mercy is the willingness of a human to help someone from compassion, to show kindness, caring, higher emotions (even love) to some being, not necessarily even a human being, and at the same time not asking for anything in return. Compassion, in turn, is sympathy for another's suffering, participation, aroused by grief, the misfortune of another being. Compassion is akin to humanity, pity. Agree, really good qualities of the human, which should be at representatives of mankind.

To be more humane is to be merciful, to show compassion, to see the pain of another being, and to help him, and not to stand still. To be more humane means to be not indifferent, to have a soul and a heart. To be more humane is to help those in need, while not asking for anything in return. That's what it means to be more humane.
Agree, in the modern world, these qualities would be very necessary, because around so many people are in need, each of us could help another person, or even a small kitten who, in the rain and snow, is looking for food in garbage dumps. The world from this will become much more humane, kinder, better. But in our days, fewer and fewer people show mercy and compassion - it almost disappeared.

In the modern world, more and more people, living according to the principles of egoistic existence, do those things that benefit them, who will only benefit them, about the people and beings around them, a person does not think, does not care. This happens for the reason that each of these people knows that no one else will take care of them either. So they take care of themselves, because no one else will. So almost everyone thinks, but is it right?

Of course, the whole world can not be changed. Selfishness, self-love and inhumanity will exist. But we can change ourselves, it is in our power. Become more compassionate, show compassion, and do not ask for anything in return, be people, not only from the biological point of view, but also from the moral point of view, and you will see how the world will change. At first it seems to you that your efforts are in vain, and for your mercy, you get only "knives in the back". But, believe me, this is the fate of all people. Mercy and compassion, simply makes you better, more humane. And it's worth a lot. God with you!

I have to admit that I care because I also wish to be cared for, when helpless. It's a deep genetic instinct to cherish, respect and celebrate our ancestors, parents and bloodlines but also other humans in need!
I am not sure if it has something to do with a "natural" feeling of empathy, some don't seem to have.

that is because we are a diferent world, each brain have a diferent historie, but all of the human can feel love, so that give hope... maybe when someone tell you something in a bad way, maybe he are doing his best for care of you and, but with your historie you dont understand that kind of love expression that you are receiving... of course some people even have all the experience in live and love, just are to tired o busy and they stop to expressing their feelings so, we only receive a negative energy of that person... i hope you are understand all... sorry my bad english :)

Thats trippy and so true. I do understand very well what you mean!

I am truly speechless .......Need to breath for a second and right back at you with a couple of links, articles I wrote a while ago.
Thank you so so much!
What an amazing amazing way to continue my thoughts in-between the lines.
You got the essence of being human and what it means!

Human, The Movie

If everything is simplified, then everything that happens in our minds can be called chemistry. Care for people can be called an instinct for self-preservation. But I'm not sure that the woman @abbijulie who cares for her child does this with the hope that the child will take care of her in the future. Thank God that people like you, like @abbijulie and @steemtruth are many. These people are heroes! Thanks to these people, we can still consider ourselves HUMANs beings!

Thank you for writing this touching article @nsbachurin

You have a good heart and you understand that to be human means to love and care for others and to place the interests of others before our own. That is easier said than done but we should keep working at it nonetheless.

I was moved when I read this. Thank you so much!

Thanks you! You are the best example for everyone!

thanks for the support

I loved your article! As you mentioned, we cannot change the world but we can improve ourselves and that is a good thing to start with. People can be hard and unfair with each other but if we focus on the good side, everything will be brighter. :)

Thank you. I really appreciate your opinion!
