Masquerade ball and immersion in the Baroque era.

There are days when it becomes important to postpone all business, worries, thoughts about problems and other things and just allow yourself to plunge into the atmosphere of the holiday. Yesterday was a good reason to visit such an event. We went to one of the Islands in our city. It is called Elagin island.

There is a huge Park on the island. Its pearl is the Elagin Palace, which was built by Charles Rossi on the order of Emperor Alexander I for his mother - Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. Now it is one of the many architectural attractions of St. Petersburg. It has existed for almost 200 years and its name has never changed since then.

Our trip was planned in advance as it is an annual festival and every time it takes place at a time when the city begins to bloom tulips.

This year the focus of the festival was in the Baroque style. And though the Baroque style originated in Europe, but in St. Petersburg it got its spread thanks to Peter the Great, who loved to travel.

We arrived in the midst of this wonderful holiday and immediately found ourselves in the midst of this theatrical action.

In the Park near the Palace, as well as on the alleys leisurely strolled ladies and gentlemen, dressed in outfits of the historical era.

Layered puffy skirts with crinoline, plenty of ruffles and lace, high hairstyles and scarlet lipstick on the lips, elegant openwork umbrellas - everything looked like a fashionista in the XVIII century.

Incredible hats and hats with an abundance of feathers and lace, a variety of jewelry and fans - all corresponded to the luxurious and spectacular Baroque era.

Baroque - the brightest, most magnificent, the most elegant style in the history of art and in the history of costume. In any other era men's suit was not as dressy and elegant as women's. Therefore, the gentlemen looked very impressive in wigs and suits, decorated with cascades of ribbons, ruffles and bows.

These characters were many and they were photographed willingly with everyone. It looked unusual and theatrical.

Everywhere there was an atmosphere of celebration. They greeted the guests of the festival with friendly smiles. Ladies made light curtsies, their gentlemen gallantly bowed .

On the front porch of the main Palace was a Baroque concert. Opera and theater artists were able to recreate the atmosphere of that distant era.

Somewhere in the depths of the Park played an ensemble of ancient music and its magical sounds gently floated through the green alleys, mixing with the aromas of flowers and young green trees. All recreated atmosphere of the Baroque era even more emphasized the unique landscape and architecture of this unique island.

Here and there you can see faces in fancy masks. But whose faces are hidden behind them - it remains a mystery. What a masquerade without masks?
