My steemvoter.com giveaway has ended; here are the winners!steemCreated with Sketch.

in #life7 years ago

I announced this two days ago, the idea being that I want to reward those who the community feels deserve it. I was hoping that more people would receive multiple votes; however, the only person to receive two votes was @troilo, so he's definitely one of them.

Those who voted for themselves had none of their votes count. This didn't affect the vote count.

The other two I've chosen based on the suggested write-ups. They are: @scandinavianlife, and @bellecrosshens.

I just now configured my http://steemvoter.com to do 100% upvotes to those three accounts. I'll review this regularly, and may adjust it.

NOTE: this might mean that I haven't read your post if I upvote it! Just so you know.

Thank you everyone for participating! I've found some new people to follow, as well. :)

Enjoy!

This is a really cool idea @libertyteeth ! Thanks for running this and I'll be sure to hop in the next time!

Ohhh thanks a lot libertyteeth!
I just saw that you upvoted my last post, so I went on your blog to see who you are, and just found this post, with my name in it. I'm really honored mate. Really!

I found out that @otage and @droucil voted for me. Thanks to you buddies... Why didn't you tell me about it? You little secretives. :D

You're welcome! Know, though, that I'm recovering from multiple concussions, so I might not remember our interactions (prompting may help).

The only part I don't like is that you don't know whether it was me that read your post and upvoted, or if it was the bot doing it automatically. Would be nice to be able to differentiate. But anyway, enjoy the upvotes! :)

This was a very cool thing to do!

Congratulations to the winners :) steem on :D

Congrats to the winners.

@libertyteeth,
Congratz for the winners and I hope to win next round :D

Cheers~

I figured out about it when it ended? Darn.

No worries, I'm doing this again -- @droucil pointed out that the number of rules you can have, is based on your STEEM Power -- with my SP, I can have up to 200 rules. So, I'll do another one of these soon with far more slots. :)

Hey that is really exciting! I will stay tuned.

Congratulations to the winners

Congrats to the winners. Even i have participated in this contest. But didn't won. :-(

What exactly is steemvoter?

It's a website where you can configure it to automatically upvote people's posts. It helps to show your support for those you care about.

The only downside to it, is that an upvote from Steem Voter looks exactly the same as an upvote from me -- meaning, there's no way for the recipient of the upvote to know whether I've actually read the post or not.

Ok, thanks for the information. I will check it out but I don't like the idea of massive bot voting.

Yeah, I agree as well. It would be nice if this tool were able to differentiate. Oh! There's a feature request for them!

When it makes an upvote, post a comment "This post upvoted by Steem Voter at @libertyteeth's direction; note that they may not have read the post!" or something similar.

That would be worse. That would make a lot of unnecessary comments which will hurt the steemit.com seo score in Google (Google doesn't like it when same content is repeated again and again in multiple pages). It will also, appear in the replies tab.

Hmm. What's your take on @minnowbooster, which does exactly that? And @bellyrub, and many others.

(Personally I think Google should disappear, thus I'm not really concerned about their SEO scoring.)

They can stay but their auto comments should disappear. I mean, every single time you use a bot, it will post a comment on your post. It is annoying as hell.

My own suggestion would be that steemit should put trending posts based on their views not payout. Also, they could add an algorithm to filter higher quality posts. That would make it a more centralized but Steemit is actually centralized. Its servers are controlled by Steem Inc.

I have no problem with Steemit adding improved functionality as long as it is transparent.

I see it differently; I like that bots make the comments so we can know who's using them. I mean I suppose one could check the votes, but once they're above a certain amount you can't see them all at steemit.com (I know steempy can help you see them, but not everybody is a programmer).

I like your enhancement for trending based on votes, and I think it should be another category. I made a post to #steemgigs not too long ago, requesting this feature but I haven't really followed up on it (I'm recovering from multiple concussions, and forget a lot). Here was that post, you might like my "categories" idea:

https://steemit.com/steemgigs/@libertyteeth/steemgigs-i-want-a-new-home-interface-with-categories-i-can-create-to-put-users-and-tags-in

It would be interesting to see what type of algorithm could "filter higher quality posts." Spelling and grammar checking are essential (but need to be in the language the post is in!); formatting as well, like use of # and ## for headings; and pictures/videos. Seems fairly complicated, and as I mentioned, I'm concussed and not really able to develop software any more, hopefully temporarily. But, I can still come up with ideas! :)
