The Day I Got Slapped by 10,000 Rainbows

I'm the kinda gal who likes to do a bit of soul searching.

I dig mystical truth bombs, ancient secret teachings and miracle manifestation stuff.

I'm always reading books by Neville Goddard, Wallace Wattles and other New Thought leaders of this ilk. As such, there was a time when I was reading through the blog posts of one Gabby Bernstein.

She writes a lot about meditation, living in the now (a la Eckhart Tolle) and general spiritual girl power.

I soak this stuff up like a dry sponge in water.

Anyway, so she's there talking about doing an exercise where you can ask the universe for a sign. Whatever question you've got, ask the universe for a confirmation sign and you will get a response.

A little dubiously, I decided to take up this challenge.

I didn't really have a question though. I was pretty sorted in terms of answers at that point.

So I thought I'd pull out the big guns and ask The. Question.

I closed my eyes.

...Now then god... If you exist....uhhhhhh..... I want you to prove it to me by....uhhhh.... showing me a sign..... This sign should be a rainbow. A very clear, unmissable rainbow...

I opened my eyes.

I felt a bit silly.

Then I went about my day. No rainbows presented themselves and by the time I went to bed I had practically forgotten the whole affair.

The next day when I woke up and logged onto my computer, I was presented with this.

And this.

And this.

And on facebook everyone looked decidedly like this.

I literally couldn't turn around without being presented with more rainbows.

Of course, same sex marriage ruling had just occurred over in the ol' US of A... and more rainbows had just appeared in the world than had ever been known before.

Love ruled supreme!

So, if Miss. Gabby Berstein and my little delve into asking for signs is to be believed, god does indeed exist... he/she is LOVE, he/she has a funny sense of humour and he/she most definitely agrees with gay marriage.

Well, I must say, I'm quite happy with that. :)

Haha! That's an awesome story! :D If only we could all experience something so profoundly positive daily, there would be no more disagreements or war haha

Though, and I don't want to be a downer, if you said your wish out loud within an earshot of your phone that's connected to the internet, it may have broadcasted your wish for Google and Facebook to fulfill haha!

oooh the power I could wield if my every command was immediately taken up by Google and Facebook!!!

Awesome :) My most current theory is that there is a definite Source of life, which can be called God that every spirit originates from. We are all connected to it, and I definitely think signs are a thing having seen my fair share ;)

I grew up in what was basically an evangelistic Christian household--I love my parents to pieces, but let's just say that their belief system now seems so narrow and limited it's almost strange now that I once subscribed to it. Oddly enough the biggest catalyst of my severing any ties from that faith was my step-son--when he pronounced his sexual orientation at sixteen. Christianity holds that it's a huge sin to be gay. I couldn't look at my beautiful, kind, amazing Josh and accept there was something wrong with him because of who he loved.

Josh with his best friend Robin- who he 'should' love according to limited people:

Josh and who he does love: his husband Shaun :)

Oh I love that you shared these pics of your stepson!! A perfect addition to the post. :)

Love is love at the end of the day. And anyone who tries to say one love is right and another love is wrong is a bit crazy in my book.

It sounds like we have very similar views on the whole God thing!! Funnily enough, my background is the complete opposite. My family were so very atheist that I wasn't even allowed to talk about God haha!

As I grew older, I started to feel that the opinion that we are all purely material didn't sit right with me. Life seems a lot more wonderful, "holy", meaningful, deep or however you want to put it, than that.

But I think everyone has to find their own meaning in life. And simply subscribing to a religion is not necessarily the best way to do this. :)

Ha ... great post... God or the Universe has an Awesome sense of humour.

Haha I like to think so!! Thanks for commenting. :)

Thanks. :)

That's a cool story....here's your sign!

I remember that day pretty well though I couldn't tell you exactly what date it occurred. I remember I was at work and I checked the news on my phone and noticed the supreme court decision being reported. Shortly after, my company announced they were extending health / wellness benefits to same sex spouses of employees there. I live in a pretty conservative part of the country so it was a pretty touchy subject and some were upset about it (not that it affected them any). I just kept my mouth shut and thought to myself "ok, that's cool" lol.

I think you're right that if there is a God, then whatever that is definitely has a sense of humor. And that's about as far as I'll delve into the subject of God as I'll end up going down a rabbit hole and typing way too much lol.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Haha yep!

I'm in the UK so I wasn't even aware that it was being voted on that day, which is why it was so shocking seeing all those rainbows everywhere when I woke up!!

Yep, I've could also waffle on when it comes to the whole subject of whether god exists, the universe and everything... but as you say, it is indeed a very deep rabbit hole!!

These rainbows are really wonderful. Life is full of rainbows. We just have to discover them

I agree! And thanks!

Thank you too!

Here's another 🌈 - and a Stones tune.

Dunno if you like the Stones? Keith's my God ;)

Hahaha!! What kind of heathen doesn't appreciate the Stones...!? :)

This tune is the PERFECT accompaniment to the post lol!!

Well, it was either the Stones or Kermit's Rainbow Connection :) I couldn't bring myself to..but I kinda like the song 🙈

Aw hahahaha! There is nothing wrong with a bit of Kermit... I have a deep and enduring love for the Muppets. :)
