A Look Inside the Infamous Kingston Polygamist Clan: Housing
I’m going to begin this series with a handful of simple questions I have had people ask me over the years. One recent question I received was, “How do they live?” This is something I wouldn’t have thought to cover but it will be helpful in understanding the Kingston Clan.
So… Do they all reside in a single home or do they live separately?

Most polygamous groups and independent polygamists live and work together as a single household. They are easily recognizable with their long hair, long dresses, and large homes with many young children playing out in the yard.
There are also large compounds surrounded by vast walls that house entire groups of fundamentalists; these are also easily recognizable.
How are the Kingston’s different?
Members of the Kingston polygamist clan live separately and are quite spread out. Each wife has her own home with her many children. Each wife is also solely responsible for managing her home as well as her children in every way.
You might ask why this group chooses to live this way. They may be the only Mormon Fundamentalist group that does.
The reasons are quite sinister. The goal of the Kingston clan is to eventually climb to the top of the state and to expand and grow from there. They believe that they will one day be “God’s chosen” that will lead the world.
The leader is a smart man. He has a dual degree in psychology and law. He knows that he can more easily accomplish this goal if his following blends in and fits in.
So… the goal of this cult is to blend in and fit in so they can more easily infiltrate the state. They dress normally. They each have their own household. They are spread throughout the Salt Lake Valley with patches in different parts of the state as well as throughout the Midwest.
One may never know that they have interacted with a Kingston polygamist clan member. If you have ever been to Salt Lake City your odds of unknowingly crossing paths with one, or entering into one of their hundred+ businesses throughout the state, are fairly good odds.
This assumingly simple topic is actually quite complex. It brings up a dozen different things I could discuss. Such as:
- Their increasing stature in the valley as well as with authorities and politicians
- The way they file their businesses to keep them secret
- Their vast and growing connections in other countries
- The labor force to help them run all of the 100+ businesses
- The role of the husband
- The number of kids each wife is required to have…
- How they want each mother to appear as a single mother
- The additional mind control/brainwashing that comes into play because they do not have literal walls to control their following
However, I will save these for another day. I will try and keep each post short and as simple as I’m able to. This will help you understand each different, quite complex, aspect of this group more fully.

I am trying to decide as a resident of the Salt Lake Valley how much I want to know.
Lol. I’m sure you are. I was actually thinking about you with some of the trails this post sent my mind down. Wondering what you would think if you knew with you being a local. Be prepared to have your mind blown. 😉
I may never even mention the most serious things about this group. They’re too unbelievable and difficult to process.
I’m beginning to understand why the media and the reality shows and movies leave so much out. It’s just too much for a person to process.
I sometimes think that the Jeffs' go so much attention because they were easier to swallow than some of the more 'real' groups.
Yeah. They’re less intelligent than the groups in the valley. Or are more out in the open because they’re so much in their own world “safe” in their compound.
The Kingston’s were raided a year earlier than the Jeffs compound and nothing has come of it... I’m not sure if the investigation is even still ongoing.
We were actually told once by the feds that they don’t have the resources to go after the Kingston’s... There’s so much stuff.

As a single mother- not by choice- I have a deep sadness for these women and children. It's hard enough for a single mom in this society, and children raised in a single parent household must struggle harder to succeed...
Same here. There's an insane amount put on these women too. They all have around a dozen kids and are required to maintain a full-time job, pay their husband rent for their home, and take care of their kids. I remember once when one of the leaders wives told me how excited she was and how special she felt that her husband gave her a new washer for Christmas. She had been hand washing clothes for months... He is a billionaire!!! To have a husband and get no help/support would feel awful.

They do live off of welfare. So unnecessary when the fathers are so wealthy.

They’re not to be taken lightly though.
In the last decade they’ve made connections in other countries and these countries treat them like royalty. Shut down streets when they come to visit...
They own much of Turkey somehow and are in with big oil in Iraq.
They have billions...
They’ve gotten away with murder in this state too. I’ve even gotten the DA and the AG’s chief investigator to admit to me that they know that the leaders brother killed the child in question. Both said there’s nothing they can do about it.
And... they train a militia... they have a tactical shop that has been featured in myth busters and other well known shows.
The IRS has said they don’t have the resources to go after them.
They are doing this all so secretively too... and growing so much every decade.
I think the leaders more of a business man so he won’t do anything stupid but then he’s still having teens train with assault rifles... so it’s questionable on how dangerous of a cult they are.
They are now being considered one of the largest organized crime families but it’s almost impossible to trace or tie anything to them.
Omg, wtf. Stuff like this degraded my faith in humanity. Lol. Makes for great drama though.
This all happened because no one took them seriously... but that’s slowly changing.
Rolling Stones Magazine targeted them a few years back and the Southern Poverty Law Center recently released an article about them and wants to start a column on them to help bring awareness.
But it has been making good drama. Lol. There’s a good reality series out about them and people that often want to do films.
I’m expecting lots of secrets to come out about them over the next 10 years. And there are so many secrets...
Oh yeah, the feds raided them almost two years back but they were warned over a week before the raid so they had time to hide EVERYTHING. Nothing has come of the raid. 😕 They switched out all their servers, and hid all of their real books and put out fake documents and books for the feds to find.
