Bath Salts On The Homestead
As the days draw close to Chanukah we spend a lot of time making it special for the grandchildren and great grandchildren. The picture above was the third batch today. Some will be given out and others will go in our winter stash. Today is the first day of winter. The days are short and getting colder. What a perfect time to prepare treats of all kinds for the year ahead. Today was special for me, as I had a special helper. Treasure, my 6 year old great granddaughter got in on all the plans. She was my special helper for the day. What fun it was.
Our project began with a special basic recipe for Bath Salts. Then, as each jar was filled, different essential oils were added. This is the best way we have found of accomidating each persons special favorites. Below, you will find our basic recipe.
Basic Bath Salts
6 parts Coarse Sea Salt to sooth your sore muscles
3 parts Epson Salts to reduce inflamation
1 part Baking Soda to sofen the water and your skin
If you make the whole batch the same , then you can add 20-25 drops of exsential oil. We made small jars, each holding one cup. One cup of the salts is taken out of the main bowl and put in a smaller bowl. Then we added essential oils. If you are using one, then 6 drops. If you are combining two oils, then three of each. Then you can label and store.
The day has been long and it is time to take a hot bath and curl up with a good book. There is always time for a hot cup of tea and a great book.
