2YEARS MAKING A DREAM COME TRUE

A dream that I have been into for more than 18 years is to have a Mercedes Benz w123 in excellent condition, or at least the closest thing to * Fresh out of the factory *.
It was mid-2013 when I could finally buy the car of my dreams, it was not the fastest, nor the most luxurious, but certainly had and keeps having something that makes it a beautiful car.

The conditions were also not the best, although it was in excellent mechanical conditions, to have passed the million kilometers traveled, and with a higher age than mine, in other words, and from my point of view that is still subjective, was a rough diamond.
A car that was more than a year without starting it's engine, and spent more time sleeping in a shed than receiving sun.

I remember the first day I went to look for it, as if it was yesterday, love at first sight I think it is what best describes the situation, just couldn't believe that car, that classic 1983 silver gray, and with its original tires, one of the most beautiful models of Mercedes Benz by the way, and it was mine
But I had very clear in my mind that I was going to start a long journey of restoration, where the sweat and tears, own and my wallet's were going to go along.

The interior of the car was the best preserved, and iI was really happy about it, since it was an area where I did not want to go into many details, or have to spend time and effort. He had his aesthetic details, some rust, scars of a wound of the past, and some other detail.
I remember changing the four wheels, the battery and a pair of lamps as a first step, a complete service whith an oil change, and all the filters, air, oil and diesel.

Six months had passed since he had acquired the car, everything was going well, and the details he had in bodywork were the next step.
Of course that throughout this time were appearing some other mishap, nothing serious but everything led me to postpone my next investment. I remember that the key light was one of the biggest inconveniences and a great headache when having to find one.
When it seemed that everything was lost, I am lucky to find a person who had a w123 like mine left in the back of his house and was willing to sell some spare parts at a fairly affordable price. That was really a lifesaver, not only did I get what I needed at the time but I already made myself a couple of spare accessories.

Suddenly the day came, more than a year of savings and dedication to finally take it to a workshop of painting, where the idea was to disassemble the car in parts, solve the problem of corrosion and then move to paint everything, in the same color, and with an extra polish to accentuate the shine.
The process was incredible to witness, every day I took the time to get on my bike and give me a tour to see how everything went, and offer my help in case it was necessary.

Mas alla del dolor de ver el auto desarmado y parado durante tanto tiempo, sentía una ansiedad y una emoción de ir viendo como se avanzaba día a día, no veía el momento de poder disfrutarlo en su plenitud.
Veintiún dias pasaron desde que entro en el taller de pintura hasta que quedó pronto, veintiún días sumados a ya casi dos años donde creo que la mayor lección y lo que mas trabaje de mi persona conjunto al trabajo del auto, fue la paciencia, y esto me ha llegado en un momento optimo.

The interior is original, with leather and fabric upholstery, original cassette radio, as well as a four-speed manual transmission, power steering and air conditioning.

Nowadays beyond having a lot of projects for this car, I am very happy with the achievement, today almost 4 years from the first day I start with this project, I feel that perseverance and effort always pay, satisfaction and the feeling of happiness they generate is priceless.
