I recently became very interested in affirmations , which is when you repeat thoughts or say something outloud until your subconscious learns it and it becomes truth to you.

Im the type of person who thought theres no way that simply doing affirmations could change the way you think... until I came across undeniable proof.

After learning about the physical changes affirmations made in the brain i decided to really give it a shot. I came across this app called ThinkUp which makes it super easy to record affirmations in your own voice (which your subconscious accepts a whole lot better then others)

Just 15 minutes of affirmations using your own voice was show to make a change lasting 8 weeks on your brain! I think this information is truely invaluable and I can already feel it working!

My favorite affirmation right now is "I feel unstoppable because I have unlimited motivation creativity and love"

What do you think about affirmations? What are your favorites?

Im going to give this a huge shot, thanks for the post. Im a big believer on mind power and being able to teach your mind what you want and tricking your subconsciousness. Everyone needs a little affirmation every once in awhile.

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to do affirmations while under the influence of pentafol (milk of amnesia) it goes directly into your subconscious.

I was supposed to write a class on motivation. Got a smidge knocked down this week.

But along that note -- affirmations are a great tool. The other tool that folks need is remembering to shut down the internal negative ninny.

Yeah forgiving your self and not tripping on the future or past is hudge. Id also add mindfulness meditation to the list.

Fuck yes! I don't know enough folks that understand how important mindfulness is. And not just as meditation. As a way of living!!!!

Its hard to practice, expecially losing my girlfriend of 14 years when I tried to better myself by going to rehab... buf fuck that bitch. Ima live in the moment for me.

Dude, sorry to here that. I was worried about you.

Don't hate her, but do focus on you. You are only as good as you put into the right now.

Yeah, i realized i cant give her the satisfaction of me being miserable.

How about one better:

You owe it to yourself to have a good fucking life!!!!

Agreed :) you make me smile.

Wow that's a powerful piece of information. I've always been aware of affirmations but I don't really give it much attention because it seems like woo woo. But I will give it a shot. Also if i may add to your post, It's also proven that it takes 66 days to form a habit. So maybe if we are consistent with an affirmation for at least 66 days, our results will be better! ( just an idea!) Well, thanks for sharing!

I dont think theres any set time really, everyones neuroplasticity is different.

I hope you give it a shot thou, I think its life changing as long as you use YOUR voice.

I had to take a college course many years ago on affirmations as a prerequisite for the tech school I went to. The explanations of how the brain works and how affirmations relate to building the belief systems we all hold sounded very reasonable to me, but I never went the extra step to put it into practice.

Affirmations are a very powerful tool; you aggregate thoughts into a belief system, much like you do everyday subconsciously, but on conscious level. The effects are undeniable and often profound, but you must be careful what you choose to repeat every morning. Just as these can be very positive for your life, they also can be very negative if not worded careful. An extreme example of this would be saying "I'm a piece of shit" every morning to yourself. You will end up believing this, and you actions in life will reflect this. So be careful if you decide to put this into practice, because good intentions won't necessarily equal good results. You have to carefully craft the words you use to shape your mind, and then audit the results to make sure you're not actually causing yourself more harm than good.

Affirmations are about the LoA? As a test, I spent 20 minutes focusing on the imagine and feeling of finding $100 on the ground. The next morning I found something that looked just like a $100 bill. It was fake but still, pretty amazing.

Hey buddy how have you been?
Im really happy you wrote this! Its such an important part of a recovery process. Its all about the mindset. I have done the exact same procedure when I was struggling with my depression. Each day I would wake up in the morning and say out loud positive affirmations to myself in the mirror. Its a game changer. Keep it up. Im here if you need anyone to talk to. I mean it. xoxo

I appreciate the kind words :) Ive definitely noticed a difference already.

Awwww you deserve all the happiness and health in the world. Life has some good things ahead for you. Hang in there Hun 💙
