The Cliff Jump That Broke My Tooth (Epic Steemit Specific Video)

in #life7 years ago

For a lot of you that have been following me for awhile you know that one of my hobbies is cliff jumping.  Some of the most epic cliff jumps exist up by the Grand Canyon on the Havasupai Native American Reservation.  The place is nothing short of magical and my last trip there was amazing.  I had three video cameras and was able to capture some pretty solid footage.

If you want to see some of the still shots I took of the area check out my two other posts.

In a later post I'm going to complete the series on my trips down to Mexico to get my tooth fixed from this cliff jump.  I still don't have a crown on my tooth which is a bad situation.  It is going to be another $400 to get the crown. I need to do it soon before I ruin the build up and the previous work done for the root canal.

Thank you for reading my post and please consider following me @brianphobos

Sorry. I laugh when I hear you describe the after math of the jump, the nut explosing and the molar shattering. I had a two broken tooth from a hockey puck so I know how unfun this is.

Cool post Brian! Good to see you back on Steem!

Thanks @teamsteem Yeah I thought the family plans were out the window. Oh man! Hockey is one sport I never got to play but I can imagine the pain of a puck shattering your teeth. Not fun!
I have been trying to get back to blog more consistently. We will see what happens over the next few weeks.

Forgot to clinch your jaw before you hit the water??? The highest I've ever done was 70' at Lake Powell. I didn't get hurt on that one, but I did almost knock myself out on a 55' jump when my knee hit my head. Not something I would try to repeat at my age (44) now, but it was fun when I was younger.

Hahha, Yeah, I guess I should have wore a mouth piece. I was kind of yelling when it hit the water and my molar was the first point of contact. 70' is a big boy. I jumped off a 70+ footer in West Virginia and it about knocked me out. It felt like someone punched me in the face. I'm glad you lived. I wasn't sure I was going to when I jumped off this one.

Holy crap man be careful! You don't have to risk your life to get my upvote ;-)

Hahah, Cliff jumping is one of those things that is very nerve racking. When I complete a successful jump I feel like a god king!

I love these Steemit exclusive videos, thanks for taking us on your adventures!

You are welcome!

Amazing place!

Yeah, it is hard to believe it is real!

OMG! Well going on adventure means stepping out of comfort zones. No risk, no fun! :-)

I'll travel to the Grand Canyon with a friend of mine in one month and we are planning to do some rafting there. Can you recommend any local agency or specific spot(s)?

It is very hard to get on a trip to raft the Grand Canyon. They say there is a 2 year wait or more. Also it is hard to schedule a trip to Havasupai Falls. The secret is out about that place! Here is some more information!

Oh wow, 2 years...then I'm quite late haha!
Thanks for the link, I'll definitely check that out. If we can't raft we'll do another excursion.

Yeah there is a lot to do and it is a stretch but if you want to try to go to Havasupai falls usually people book big groups but then people end up backing out. So Maybe on Meetup.com or Craigslist you might be able to join a group or something. I got lucky the last time and got to jump in with a group that was going down there.

Awesome! I'm already in contact with the people from the site that you've recommended me. It seems that the 1-day rafting is still available on the dates that we are interested in. Great news! :-)
