What I Love About Religion As An Atheist (Part I)

Before we start, let me just quickly clear out that this post is in no way intended to offend anyone's personal religious views or morals. I know this is something that you shouldn't have to explain, but these days you never know who you might offend.

This post includes my own personal views about religion and what I love about it, as a non-believer. Yes, it's possible to love individual parts of something that you don't believe in as a whole.

You don't have to believe in something to appreciate its artistic nature.

Beautiful Architecture

Perhaps the easiest and the least controversial thing to love about religion are the remarkably beautiful and extremely well-designed architectural buildings including cathedrals, churches, gurdwaras, temples and mosques.

It's amazing how the paintings and the detailed carvings in some of these buildings has survived for so many centuries. A great example of how people in the past built things to last.

Imagine the amount of engineering and labor work that went in the construction of these projects. It's massive when compared to the buildings of today which let's be honest, though are taller, don't look half as good as these architectural marvels.

Focus On Spirituality

Practice of spirituality is something that all of us need especially in the highly materialistic world of today. Fortunately, spirituality is the core of every religion as it teaches its followers the value of reuniting with your own inner self.

This might sound really weird coming from an atheist, but I do honestly think that religion is probably the best way we can get the majority to willingly involve themselves into practicing self-discovery.

Furthermore, practicing spirituality also helps develop a healthy lifestyle as it involves meditation which makes you calmer, more focused, more attentive and aware, and gives you the ability to deal with stressful situations, which quite frankly, all of us really need.
