30 Day Spend No Money Challenge

I've decided to attempt to not spend any money in the next 30 days with the exception of things that are automatic payments like rent, internet, cell phone.

Why you ask would I want to do something crazy like that?

• I want to lose weight, in this I will have to walk everywhere and plus I can't spend money on my favorite vice - BEER!

• I'm getting my teeth fixed in Mexico next month and I want to be able to pay for it out right.

• I have a lot of dry foods like beans, rice, lentils I need to use up and for fresh greens I have a few kale plants outside.

• I have done mini versions of this in the past to reset my spending

I have been on a weight loss journey for a lot of years now. I first went vegan 5 years ago which halted my weight gain but for me, didn't cause weight loss. I did feel way better so I've stayed vegan but I do eat more, I am hungry all the time! I had to go to physiotherapy and massage therapy for close to two years on and off to fix a repetitive stress injury I had on my hip. Once it was finally fixed I could workout again I started by walking about 3 kilometers a day and eventually worked up to 10 km a day walking to and from work. I joined a yoga studio last October that offers core fit classes that I alternate, I try to go to 2 yoga classes and 2 core classes a week and I walk a minimum of 5 km every single day. In the last 2 years I have managed to lose about 55 lbs (25 kg) and build a lot of muscle. I still want to lose another 20 lbs but I've plateaued a bit the last few months.

My front teeth have always been a little crooked , which honestly never bothered me.

Now that I've gotten older and lost some enamel in the front and got a few chips I find them impossible to keep from staining. So I decided to get 4 veneers in the front! I'm super excited about it!

Resetting my spending is something I like to do periodically where I just don't spend money. I try not to look at any advertising and just learn to live without things when they break for a bit just to see if I actually need them. I find it makes me look for creative solutions and sometimes it lends to a permanent lifestyle change - like when my car broke down 5 years ago. I really didn't have the money to fix it. I had debt and I decided to just wait and save up the money rather than putting the repair on credit again! In the course of the next couple weeks I discovered I really didn't need a car taking transit to work was easier than I thought it would be so I decided to get rid of it and I've never owned a car since!

So wish me luck! I'll be posting regularly on this to let you all know how I'm doing and what I'm finding challenging.
