3 Shots From Saturday's Photo Adventure With @jarvie
As promised in the DTube video I posted yesterday, here are a few more "keeper" photos from Saturday's photo adventure with @jarvie. We had shot a nice sunrise at Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe in the morning, then afterward, we headed to Secret Cove, one of my favorite spots on Lake Tahoe.
It was a challenging area because it's a popular area so there were lots of people hanging out on the beaches and boulders. Also, an ugly boat had pulled into Secret Cove right when the light started to get good and light up the bottom of the cove, creating those awesome aqua and green colors. Fortunately, there are a lot of trees in the area that can help block out boats and people, there are also lots of other cool spots to shoot along that area of shoreline.

These were all shot on a Canon 5DS R. I find it the best way to capture those crazy aqua and green colors of the lake is to use a polarizing filter on the front of the lens. The polarizer cuts through the glare on the surface, and BAM, it makes those colors pop. I also used a graduated neutral density filter to help darken the sky a bit, which in turn lightens up the foreground and can bring out even more of those crazy colors. The filter kit I use it made by LEE and can be ordered HERE. I really like this system because you can use the polarizer and the graduated neutral density filters at the same time.

Beautiful shots @scottshots! How is the weather there? I just saw a news article saying that Lake Tahoe's temperature went up 6 degrees. It seems to be a fairly large lake and it doesn't appear to be having any problems from the photos I've seen you submit. Just hope things are well. Take care my friend!
Thank you! Wow, I didn't see that article about the 6 degrees. The weather has been hot but that's normal for this time of year. Smokey too thanks to nearby wildfires, unfortunately, that's normal this time of year too. Things are going great though, can't complain. Hope things are going great for you too, cheers!
