제 5장 관념의 타파

1. 아상을 버려라

내세울 게 없어야 벗어나지 내세울 게 있다면 벗어날 수가 없다. 그러므로 첫째도 몰락 놓아야 하고 둘째도 몰락 놓아야 한다. 다 놓는다는 것은 내세울 `나'가 없다는 뜻이다. 다 놓아야 윤회의 원통을 벗어난다.
< 하나조차도 세울 게 없을 때 도는 있다. 나라고 세울 게 없을 때 도가 있다. 그렇게 내세울게 없기에 오히려 둥그스름하다고 말하는 것이다.

Chapter 5 Letting Go of Ideas

1. Letting Go of Ideas

You can only escape if you have nothing to prove, but if you have something to prove, you cannot escape. Therefore, you must let go of the first, and you must let go of the second. Letting go of everything means that there is no `I' to show off. Only by letting go of everything can one escape the cylinder of samsara.
< When there is nothing to stand for, there is Tao. There is Tao when there is nothing to stand for. It is said that it is rather round because there is nothing to be proud of.
