My First Pun Ever - (and it was kinda fun) ;)
I am writing this post to bring some attention to a few of the awesome people out in steemville "giving away" free money to people who simply make an effort. I have never ever written a "pun" before, and frankly I'm still not sure if I even really did this time either. hehehe
I'll be brief, I promise :)
I heard about the contest because @danielsaori invited me to play. He gives away money by highlighting another author's post each week and encourages them to comment and enter their answers in 2 places. (the featured blog and his blog)... Same answer, 2 entries and you can win prizes in both places... Pretty cool huh?
Well the post he picked this week was from @improv and it was a challenge to write a pun about Martin Luther Day. For those that don't know what a pun is (a novice like me) here is the definition:
a joke exploiting the different possible meanings of a word or the fact that there are words that sound alike but have different meanings
I said what the heck, I'll give it a try...
So I entered and here is my answer...
I hear Bernie Madoff (who was a big Martin Luther King fan)
only got caught because he was trying to recite MLK's words at a charity event
and had a Freudian slip "I have a SCHEME".
So yes that was bad... I know, so you don't have to remind me lol... but I'm telling you this so that you too can go get a chance at some free fun, and maybe even some free money. (as a bonus you also can see some pretty funny people and their answers)

Me? I pun a lot, mostly unconsciously which is kinda ironic because the blog I write on here is mostly about BEING conscious!! About how connected we all are, not voodoo woo woo (see? there I go!) but how at the deeper levels ALL things are inextricably woven together...yes, even when we aren't aware of it.

Yes, I know of only one way to be...and that is indeed sincere....and all one can ever be, if you value truth and honesty...is yourself! Warts, quirks, weirdness and all, and yes, I am talking entirely for myself here!!! 😊
Sincere is one of those strange words that is in daily use, usually at the end of boring formal letters for example, but did you know it actually means "without wax"?
No? Perhaps I should explain. It comes from the days of ancient Rome where marble statues cost an arm and a leg (in Venus de Milo's case...quite literally!!!😊😊😊)
So the unscrupulous statue dealer would fill in the little cracks and chips with wax...making the statue less valuable and "tainted." Often the unwary buyer of such a statue would get home, plunk it in their courtyard and after admiring it, they'd go inside for a bacchanalian feast, or a cuppa, or whatever! Only to find, hours later, a puddle of wax, melted in the hot Roman sunshine, and a statue without arms, or a head and legs!! Very distressing... and hence the term sin (without) cere (wax) = sincere. And this is the real resaon we still use the term "yours sincerely" to this very day!
Odd we should still use that term when most people don't even know the true origins of its usage.

Wow, Dave what an inspired idea! I have literally got trivia like that falling out of my ears...years of stored data that no-one ever thinks about or even considers...I'm just weird that way and soak up bonkers facts and stuff like a sponge and its probably, after 50+ years of living, got to saturation point!
So thanks muchly for the suggestion...you're right its probably time I squeezed that sponge and it'll be interesting to see what comes out!!!

thank you dave either we are classmate but you are very genius and you got success very soon on steemit ahaahhaah . actually my degree of MSC is going to be complete thats why i m little upset for my study due to this reason i do not proper concentrate on steemit . please guide me some better contest and give me some instructions i m very lazy on and back on steemit
Annie, I'm glad you are getting your degree and that is way more important than anything here on steemit (for at least now). You will have time to put proper focus on steemit as you progress in your life. I will continue to help you because you are my classmate here and I like you :)
As far as the games, there are some that are very easy to do and don't take a lot of your time. I will point them out from time to time because you have now asked.
