My name is Megan Closner. I'm a real person.
There is much to say, but there will be plenty of time to say it with the way I intend to use this platform. I think this entry is best used to describe why I am here, rather than attempt to explain who I am. Consider the above a ridiculously simple prologue to an incredibly complex story.
My intention with Steemit is to expose myself and my human experience in the truest way possible, while connecting with people who may be able to gain something from what I share. The biggest benefit of social media is that we can vicariously experience multiple avenues of life through people we otherwise may not have connected with. The greatest complication social media has brought to light is uncontrollable dishonesty. While we are reading and connecting and exposing ourselves, we are also coming across things that are knowingly manipulated or untrue, therefore, we are clouding our minds with fairytales and at times belittling our own experiences by being envious of something that is false.
Steemit is a very exciting concept, because it puts the power in to the hands of the user, rather than the platform. With Steemit, your attention, ideas, and opinions are actually worth something to the system. This idea is vitally important to the furthering of our society, because it encourages people to be thoughtfully engaged in what they are reading and how they are interacting within the community. Nothing is subconscious here. The users do not reward the system with their mindless participation. The users are instead rewarded by the system when they provide authentic, informative, and inspiring content. Each of us has an incredibly important piece of wisdom to share, and through vulnerability and honesty, there is strength to be found. I view Steemit as the revolution of social media and information, and I am so excited to be here to witness the beginning of it.
Let's try to unravel a little bit of the universe while we're here.
Onward and upward, all the time.
