Hello to my fellow Steemians
I was going back and forth about choosing a new blogging platform since I learned about cryptocurrencies. The choice was between Steemit and Medium. Needless to say, Steemit won out. I am glad to be here. If you are new to the platform like me, you may be wondering how to change your profile picture, I found this post by @ilyastarar to be very helpful - https://steemit.com/howto/@ilyastarar/how-to-add-profile-picture-on-steemit-steemit-profile-picture-latest-guide-2018, the second option worked for me.
I am going to use this blog to talk about any and everything that I find interesting. Bitcoin brought me here, so you will find lots of posts about my thoughts in this space. I like airdrops, that is, free tokens, so I will be sharing that here too. I also like gardening so I'll post of my gardening attempts. In case you are wondering if I am just an eye, that is how the picture was cropped, so in order to satisfy your curiosity I will share the entire picture with you
Once again, I am excited to be here, to learn about this new platform and I hope that you will find what I have to say is helpful and interesting. Please feel free to say hello and share what brought you here.

Hello cybilbitgirl! It is nice to see a new steemit user here! I am new too!
i recently made my first post as well! My aim on here is to create a better crypto community and have us, as a whole, make better decisions. To do that, I made a text mining bot to analyse crypto related news on the internet and analyse them to provide a macro level perspective of the crypto market weekly. Do check it out when u are free, we can also follow each other and who knows? maybe work something out and have a collaboration for content creation together! that would be amazing! =) thanks for reading ! =)

In case you haven't already seen Steemit is just one platform of the overall Steem community. If you haven't already seen you can replace many social networks by using Steem based platforms like this:
Replace Reddit for Steemit - www.steemit.com
Replace YouTube for D.tube - d.tube
Replace Twitter for Zappl - www.zappl.com
Replace Instagram for Steepshot - www.steepshot.io
Replace SoundCloud for DSound - www.dsound.audio
Replace Periscope for DLive - www.dlive.io
While each of these sites have a community built around their product offering for the Steem ecosystem, they all still post to the same Steem blockchain. So when you view on Steemit you will see all posts that go to the blockchain while viewing on the independent channels may restrict to just content that was created on their network.
Regardless of what platform you use to interact you still earn rewards based in Steem for participating. It just makes so much more sense than using the centralized platforms of the past. You can even earn rewards just for voting other people’s stuff up!
If you ever have leftover voting power you can use tools like smartsteem which allow you to sell your leftover daily voting power in return for extra SBD. It’s a great way to earn a few extra rewards whenever you’re too busy to vote for good content yourself.

That's exactly what brought me to using Steem so much. I used to run a Google+ community on Bitcoin but after it was banned I moved everything over here. So much better to be able to share your opinion without fear of suspension or banning.

I agree... there are just too much hindrance and obstacles on other platforms, I am very new to steemit as well. I feel that over here we have more freedom to express what we want on a broader range of topics. it is unlike mainstream where they ban/censor anything they dont like. I like it here, its so much better =) you have a good day! xD
