CATS ON A SKATEBOARD (and other nice tools for new Steemians)

If you are new to STEEMIT, I'd like to say, "Welcome!"

This can be a daunting place, to start out with. All of this talk about, "Cryptocurrency," and setting up wallets, mixed together with posts about Photography and technical analysis of financial charts - it can all be a bit overwhelming! What does it all mean? How do I do this?!?!

I hate to say it, but when you are new and you don't have any Steem Power - you are going to get your @$$ handed to you by someone who titles their post: "CATS ON A SKATEBOARD." That's just a plain and simple fact. WHY? Because, nobody knows who you are or what you are about. So, how do you get noticed?

First rule: After you make your first blog post, introducing yourself, you can pretty much forget about earning a ton of author rewards (unless you just happen to already be a well-practiced writer/blogger/author). Pick one topic that you are into - and start a weekly post by making a series out of it. Be sure you are an authority on your topic - have some serious life experience in whatever it is you are talking about. We all have life experiences. Keep at it. This is, "The Daily Grind," you'll have to become accustomed to if you are going to learn how to produce any kind of a quality blog.

Second rule: COMMENT. COMMENT. COMMENT. This is actually MORE IMPORTANT than starting your own blog. Get out there, find some interesting posts - or some high-value posts that might be interesting to you. Get involved in the community. Talk to people. Reply to other people's replys - because we all like it when someone replies to something we have taken the time to post. If you do both things: blog & comment, you will quickly learn an important lesson: you will earn Steem, Steem-Backed Dollars, and Steem Power at a rate 10 times greater for your well-placed comments, as compared to articles you post on your own blog.

Now, this post is not meant to be a complete guide for newbies, or anything like that. But, here are a couple of very useful and interesting tools/sites for you to check out. I find myself going back to them over & over again:

This is useful for many things. Type in your SteemIt name and wait a few seconds for it to fetch your info. (For example, I go there and type, @bi5h0p to check on my stats such as current Voting Power.)

This site is great because it will show you, in text and graphics, when & how much Steem you will be recieving in the next week for all of your hard work on SteemIt. Same thing - go there and type in your SteemIt name - @_______ whatever your name is.)
