New to the World of Blockchain, but Blockchain Isn’t New
Hello Everyone! I am pleased to write my first post ever on SteemIt. Here’s to a future of shared stories, angst, and adventures! Here’s a cold one...
January 2015 was my introduction to blockchain technology (Kudos to the GeoNYC meetup organizers), but I didn’t take notice. Although the idea was cool I could not grasp the concept. Back then a bitcoin cost about US$250. Had I known…
With all the recent talk of cryptocurrencies in mainstream media outlets, I’ve decided to give it a GO! Like any other investment, this topic required research. So I asked myself, “Who is this guy Satoshi Nakamoto?” I would have had better luck figuring out the sound of the color yellow.
After perusing YouTube videos I found one that broke the name into pieces (like how people buy miniscule parts of bitcoins, 0.018479 = I.Am.Going.To.Be.Rich.). Satoshi means “wise”. Naka means “relationship”. Moto means “origin”. Okay.
I Googled these words in that order - wise, relationship, origin - and an old text by Saint Augustine came out the other end of the query. “The Works of Saint Augustine: A Translation for the 21st Century” edited by Edmund Hill, to be exact. He talks about the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Then it dawned on me...Satoshi Nakamoto is G-O-D.
Or...a group of pseudonymous hackers. But in the world of Neuromancer, that’s the same thing. What matters is that these coins, and the blockchain technology they’re built on, have the potential to end bank-funded wars, starvation, and poverty - ultimately elevating humanity to a New Level of Consciousness.

Hello @yonicjasz. Welcome to Steemit. I am David. I wish you have a happy journey here.
Nice post. I've never really thought about the meaning behind Satoshi Nakamoto. I just thought it was a cool name. I like the idea that it has meaning behind it, whether this is coincidence or not. Welcome to Steemit.
Thank you @somecoolname. Yes, Bitcoin's creator has a name of meaning. I suppose it is best for the person or people behind the blockchain to remain anonymous. Bitcoin has a lot of power to change the current financial system. Those in control may or may not be pleased with the introduction of this technology because it is disruptive and threatens their status.
