Intro Post: Hello I'm netscape101 from South Africa
I have been on Steemit since January 2018, so I thought it is time for me to write an intro post. Prior to getting into system administration I considered becoming a journalist. In my country journalists don't get paid very much and it can be very dangerous if you are writing stories about what is really going on. There is a great deal of corruption happening in the South African government. Yes I am from South Africa.

I've always wanted to be paid to write and that is why I am very glad that my interest in blockhain related technologies has led me to discover steemit. I have done freelance writing in the past, I used to write articles on Elasticsearch as a ghostwriter for qbox.io I've also written a short book for O'Reilly media that unfortunately never got published. I've tried to make money by posting content on blogspot, although my blog's content fell into the category of "hacking", and unfortunately you can't have google ads on a blogspot page with content about hacking or cracking. Let me be very honest, I'm here to write and get paid for it, but I'm thinking of steemit as a longterm investment. I plan on investing in myself on the long run in order to:
- Learn new things for example I would like to transfer some STEEM to bitshares and learn how to use bitshares.
- I would like to improve my writing and my writing style.
- I'm here to meet cool people and share ideas. Feel free to add me on discord. If you can't find me, then please post a comment and I'll leave my discord details in the comments.
- I would like to put all my earnings into steem power, so in other words I would like to be in this for the long run.
- I would like to become a steem witness at some point as I love running servers. I am a huge BSD and Linux fanboy.
- I would like to expand my mind.
- I would like to use something like steem to spread the truth and to make the world a better place.
- I am here to watch whales. Something I've learn as teenager was to always keep your eyes on the older more experienced people when it comes to learning a new discipline or skill. The older more experienced people can teach you a great deal if you take the time to listen to them and learn from them.

I am based in one of the most dangerous cities in South Africa: Cape Town. Cape Town might be a very modern city, but Cape Town is also gangland central for South Africa. I am looking forward to writing some articles and stories about the history of my city and country. If you would like to know more about the gangs of Cape Town then have a look at the following:

I would like to use technology as a tool to educate and empower young people in my city in order to end poverty and gangsterism. I used to teach an Intro Linux course at a coding school in one of the townships in my city. I'm dedicating this post to Bonghi, one of the bright students that attended my class who was shot dead in August 2017 in the township. For my own safety I'd rather not post a picture of him on here.
I am very excited to see where bitshares and steemit is going. I have been watching the world of crypto since around 2013 and I am eager to see where things going. I wish someone could implement the stemit business model onto something like stackoverflow.
Something about me:
My online handle is netscape101, I started using this internet handle first on reddit: https://reddit.com/u/netscape101
I run a cool subreddit to get new Linux users into Linux system administration: https://reddit.com/r/linux_mentor
I've written a blog post on the topic of getting into Linux system administration for anyone who is interested:

Hi,
You can only submit one story. You will want to remove one of them or you could get disqualified.
Ok sure I didn't realize.
Hey, how did your posts fall under "hacking", did they flag them or something? I like your writting and humor! :)
I think they flagged me. I could never turn on google ads even though I had lots of views on my article. You can check my hacking blog here: http://infosectoughguy.com
