What happens if you bring a small sample of the Sun to Earth?

Short answer: you die.

The longest answer is given in the video What Happens If We Bring the Sun to Earth ? the long answer of what will happen has a lot to do with what part of the Sun it is, although essentially the most probable result is always the same and you die.

For example, if you take a sample of the chromosphere, which is the atmosphere of the Sun (a thin layer of gas rising to about 5000 kilometers which is almost as large as Earth, and quite hot, between 6000 and 20,000°) and we take it to Earth will not be very good business: in the area of the chromosphere a sample is a million times less dense than the Earth's air at sea level, so it's basically like bringing the vacuum of space to the Earth. But when the sample reaches Earth, atmospheric pressure will crush and implode it. The air would rush to fill the void left with as much energy as 12 kilos of TNT. This would create a shock wave of high pressure and if you are not far away you would die.

The explanation goes deeper into the Sun, taking samples from here and there until we reach the assumption that a sample of the Sun's core is taken and brought to the Earth. This is when the Earth really gets brown. "Fortunately, once again there are the maths to give answers without having to try to see what happens."
