Where Is The Love? A Cry Against Bullying (Featuring Author @thegoldencookie)

Today is a very dark, very depressing day. It's cold and looks like rain. Leave it to my brain to think of things that makes me feel like the weather.

I figured that I would share an experience with you that still to this day upsets me. Many of you might not know this but I'm quite the fluffy female. My strong personality allows me to do things big people like myself wouldn't generally do, however I have been bullied all my life and as a result I have a very low self esteem.

So before the big move Daniel and I decided to go out with friends. All dressed up and with the complements from Daniel I had this confidence I don't generally have. We show up at the club and immediately we go to the dance floor to shake our stuff. Half way through the first song I noticed guys laughing and pointing at me. I decided to brush it off... Haters will hate.

Then Daniel kissed me and they started laughing and making fun of him because of me. That hurt, so without a word to my friends or Daniel I left the dance floor. At first I was so mad at them and not wanting to talk about it I joined my friends who were smoking outside. Corne (my best friend in the world) noticed that I was upset and forced me to tell her what happened. Outraged (and like a protective mother) she was ready to go and give them a piece of her mind.

The rest of the night I spent standing on the side lines. Refusing to dance with anyone that asked just because of the actions of a couple of guys.

Through the years I like to think that I have developed a thick skin. So a couple of days after the incident I went on Facebook and saw a post on Diply or 9gag or one of those other links people share. It was about a guy who had gone through the exact same thing as I did. It made me cry knowing how mean people can be. But then I was given hope as the article continued telling the story of how a group of women searched the internet to find this guy to invite him to dance with them. After months of searching he finally saw it and accepted the invitation. I then cried because the joy on his face as this party and on the dance floor. To read the article click here

I saw a Steemit post on the 16th of August regarding a 13 year old boy who committed suicide because of being bullied. Click on the link below to read the article, and click here for the news story.

People need to know that this is not okay. Making fun of someone because of the way they look, or how smart or dumb they are and making them feel bad about it, is unnecessary. It makes me think Of the Black Eyed Peas song "Where Is The Love?"

The world would be a much better place if everyone would treat each other with love and kindness. #stopbullying #worldpeace

theirs. They are truly the people that one needs to feel sorry for. They are the ones with the low self esteem and without compassion and love in their hearts. They are the lost ones in the world. Hold your head high and forget what others say and laugh at and enjoy yourself. Does it matter what they think or say. No it does not. You are by far a better person than what they are. Show them that no matter what they say or laugh at they could not break you down. Keep on enjoying dancing and show them that you do.

Thank you for your kind words.

I hope writng this piece made you feel somewhat better, because it should. It should be a small step of many that helps you to destroy all of that from your past and surge forward. Bullying is in every aspect of all societies, even here on Steemit. I like what you wrote and I agree with all of it. Keep up the great work :)

Thank you so much. Writing this did give me a small feeling of power. I hope that this reaches enough people to make a change

most people judge in a negative way, its just too easy to do, there are just too many beings that live unhealthy lifestyles, so that is all they can offer the world: a negative sate of being along with many negative actions that hurt themselves and others

I think that if everybody took action and tried to not judge it could be the first step to many great things

Yes, but really everybody is nobody, as I am only ever able to experience a limited number of people around me, and really only give full attention to 2-3 at most. If I am balanced and living in a positive flow then I will not encounter any 'negative' people. All the people I meet are perfect.

You are then a very fortunate person.

Thank you for the support

Interesting and thought provoking. I think as mentioned in the post the core problems in
many situations is that people don't love themselves.

It's sad but true. It's unfortunately easier to mock than show love and I really hope that it will change

your story touches my heart .............

Thank you. I never planned on sharing this story with anyone until I saw the post of the boy. I just couldn't keep what I had to say to myself anymore. Thank you for your support
