New Realities of Life with Steemit

Life sometimes can be so difficult that it blinds you. Like the widowed mother left with seven kids in one of our rural communities; who treks miles and miles to fetch water from the stream; who cooks with the firewood as her eyes hurts; whose heart bleeds each time any of her children falls sick because she cannot afford medication. Such a woman is completely blind to a world of designer wears, movies and popcorn, or eye shadows and lipsticks.

Poverty and deprivation and pain is all she sees; and so it blinds her to this other side of the world. Yes, life can blind you and that is not by your choosing.

I run a small business and you might not understand how liberating (despite the tremendous stress I go through daily) and fulfilling it is for me. It was also a long walk getting here. For many years after school, I had to make do with meagre salaries, put up with so much from impossible employers and some periods, quite long periods, go without a job. This kind of living can damage your self esteem, make you think you deserve less and keep you completely blind to a life of more and abundance.
They call it the "rat race" life, living from month to month and from hand to mouth. Not even sure if the next meal will come. It's actually living from the shithole. But hey, no matter how dark it gets, choose to believe that there is more on the other side. And then completely refuse to be blinded by life.

Breath of fresh air

My breath of fresh air came when I was introduced to steemit by @kenhudoy. I got the info without much faith as I distaste anything online business having had bad experiences from a lot of online MLM & Ponzi schemes. However, with caution, I started steemit, reading & commenting posts from different folks day and night, surprisingly finding a lot of exciting articles and gaining knowledge I could never have believed to gain here and finally with apprehension sending my first intro posts and another and here is another. Alas, first time in a long while the dollars starts coming, good old uncle Sam's currency! Now hope is building, my confidence is coming back and my aspirations are increasing.
Thanks to steemit and steemians, I am having new realities of life!
