Diets heavy in junk food increase risk of depression, study finds

in #informationwar6 years ago

Eating too much fast food, processed meat and cakes is putting people at increased risk of depression, according to a new study.

Researchers at Manchester Metropolitan University's Bioscience Research Centre examined 11 studies into depression and inflammatory diets, covering over 100,000 people aged 16-72 across the US, Australia, Europe and the Middle East.

Their analysis found that people with more inflammatory diets that were high in cholestoral, saturated fats and carbohydrates were 40 per cent more likely to develop depression.

No surprise to me and I'm sure many others that are awake on the problems with food and nutrition in our society. Fast food has a lot of hidden chemicals that are toxic to the body. I'm a firm believer that your health and wellness is a direct result of what you put in your body. If you're going to put a bunch of toxic garbage in your body than your body is going to react to that with low energy levels, messed up hormones and increased disease.

Notice in the article they label saturated fats as inflammatory and from my research that is a bunch of bullshit. It's the unsaturated and trans fats that cause inflammation in the body. Canola oil is one of the main ingredients in vegetable oil and it comes from a rapseed plant that is high in erucic acid that causes inflammation.

I also did an article on pharmaceutical drugs prescription and over the counter ones increase your changes of getting depression. Probably because most of these drugs have toxic and cancer causing fillers in their pills.

Researchers at University College, London, have also established a link between diet and depression.

They said there was 'compelling' evidence that eating a Mediterranean diet rich in fish, vegetables, nuts and olive oil could lower the risk of developing depression by up to a third. Unlike the junk diet, the Mediterranean diet is anti-inflammatory, containing less unsaturated fat and higher quantities of fibre and vitamin A, C and D.

At the bottom of the article they get it right and say unsaturated fats cause inflammation. They also point out the Mediterranean diet which has more vitamins and nutrients can lower your risk of depression. I believe there's a strong link between nutrients deficiencies in people and depression. There's a reason why active, healthy people aren't very likely to be depressed and fat lazy people are more likely to be depressed.

If these depression drugs were so effective and good you. Wouldn't all the healthy people be taken them to prevent depression like they do with vitamin supplements and protein shakes that keep you healthy.

And of course your doctor isn't going to say you're depressed because of the junk food you eat. They are going to say if you're depressed take these pills(with dangerous side effects) instead of changing your diet because they like getting gifts from the cute pharmaceutical rep lady.

Eat health, supplement and exercise a little to stay happy, that's my advice.

Thanks for reading folks have a Merry Christmas.
