Points raised that were not on the agenda

Meeting

  • Discussion point ONE - Does holding the meeting in a separate channel seem to work?
It looks like it did...there was no confusion in the "#general" channel.
  • Discussion point TWO - disorganization of previous meetings
We had 10 people in the meeting. Some things helped keep us mostly on track
    -having an agenda
    -having a moderator
-the moderator kept moving back to point
-having the meeting in a separate channel, allowing for normal chat in "#general"
  • discussion point THREE -curation issues

-we have to set an threshold of daily number of posts that could be curated by the trail to avoid spam and to ensure quality

-what we do is to have a general floor for the voting power we use

-its up to the individual curator, we have to trust curators to do the right thing in general
giving curators discretion allows a better range of curation than just giving them a set of rules

-I think the general guidelines on the curation we all agreed to basically makes sense. We check to make sure we never go below 85% in total. If we are at 90% and want to curate a bit just use less voting power.

-if you post multiple times a day on the IW tag some of them might not be voted fo; 4 or 5 a day is overdoing it, 4 or 5 qa week is cool

-we arent going to be able to curate everybody that uses the tag, so we have to decide on the best ways to curate

-And, if all of the curators are busy there will be times where nothing is curated for a day.

-We now have 5 curators total vs the 3 we had in the past

-Other thing, as no curator speaks spanish, @metalmag25 will from time to time propose some spanish IW related posts for curation in the "#postpromotion" channel

  • discussion point FOUR - ways for new steemers/low SP steemers to help out

-I do suggest that new/low SP steemers focus on building their own SP first!

-resteems and suggestions on "#postpromotion" are ways for low SP folks to contribute...you can suggest posts other than your own here

-Invite other Steemers you see with similar interests to join us

-And join the curation trail!

Election2018

Maybe to make it easier we should do a little promo on good candidates we find and use both the IW and Election 2018 tags

It is voluntary. Those who want to participate are welcome. My suggestion was we pick states and try to find out who the "establishment" (business as usual candidates are) and thus not worthy of a vote (for those that vote) and point out candidates that seem more aligned with freedom and true representation

Election2018 channel might be helpful for us to gather and post people we find
"#election2018" is now a channel on the InformationWar Discord server" : @dwinblood is the admin

Tasks for me

  • explanation of discord channels
  • recognize current delegators, we have some new backing!

what are the items we need to set for next week's agenda?

should I also publish unedited chat log in addition to summary post?

Fishing for whales

and remember, there is a channel set aside... "#weekly-meeting-agenda-suggestions" ...to add suggestions at any time

Later there will be a big post with where everyone is on other social media

speaking of social media, we do have about 20 social media account linked to the @informationwar account; we need to start thining about ways to use that

Definitely invite other people to the discord-
A lot easier to get friendly with people by talking through voice chat/text

If you are going to invite people via their posts, it's good to leave a comment about their post specifically and segue into it.

BEYOND CURATION, otherwise we are spamming...which is another reason we should TRY to use the relevance filed in the comment template

Unfortunately I'm asleep during meeting time looks like good things are being accomplished, keep up the good work, team.
Welcome back @stevescoins

I thought Russian bots dont sleep!

Its part of my developed backstory so that no one knows I'm a bot, lol.

Your secret is safe with me.

ugh

thanks to @metalmag25 for pointing this out

That's what happens since we always leave a comment though. I don't think most people use add-ons by the way. I don't use any for this. We could put "this post was manually upvoted by a human (@stevescoins)" instead, or something like that if you think.

@TF writing

at some point in May, I need to reach out to the folks at steempower and ask them to take a look at our curation, see if they will re-evaluate their description of our account...I added this pic as an action item for the next meeting

Does anyone really use addons enough for it to matter though? I dare say out of the thousands of people who browse through the Informationwar tag, only metalmag was using an addon that classifies people.

Might not be worth the effort if only one person is using it, how much time do we want to spend talking about one person using a tool that says we are a bot when we all know it isn't a bot, you know what I mean?

TF typing

Got damn! I've lost it, thanks for the information, friend, it's good to know how things are going in the community.

next time ;>

It was my first meeting and am glad that I attended. I came in with a few questions and got them all answered, thanks. Information War is a great group to be a part of.

Beep! Beep! This humvee will be patrolling by and assisting new veterans, retirees, and military members here on Steem. @shadow3scalpel will help by upvoting posts from a list of members maintained by @chairborne and responding to any questions replied to this comment.
