BREXIT Vote Day — Countdown…
The last act of a BREXIT vote drama is still in progress. There is still no indication when the fiery debate could end. While we are waiting, let’s see what could be expected…
I didn’t consult betting odds for this occasion, but I doubt any of experienced bookies would give any chance in favor of May’s ‘Brexit deal’ with EU. Now, media outlets like very much to make vote Projections:
- According to Bloomberg, Theresa May’s government is on course for the biggest defeat in 95 years. On October 8, 1924, the minority Labour government of Ramsay MacDonald was defeated by a margin of 166.
- Sky News have predicted 198 FOR and 423 AGAINST May’s deal – a defeat of 225.
- The Guardian anticipates 213 FOR and 426 AGAINST – a defeat of 213.
Not that I believe projections (they projected win of the ‘remainers’, remember?), but this time, just watching the final debate, gives you a clear view that this voting will end with a humiliating defeat for the Theresa May’s Government. For example, one MP made a clear argument saying that the question was quite clear: “Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?” The People said “Leave”. But Government thinks it knows better. What are they going to do? Are they going to dissolve people and choose a new one?
What can happen then? TLDR News has, as usual, very nicely illustrated explanation:
