Thoughts On War

in #india5 years ago (edited)

The recent terror attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir state of India has triggered a massive social media storm with keyboard warriors war mongering and demanding a full scale attack on enemy nation. I've been thinking about it and it's not as simple as launching a few missiles at the enemy.

It's important to demand action against terrorists but calling for genocide etc etc isn't going to change the situation for the better.

A full scale war isn't quite like fighting with your next door neighbour which ends after a few mins of quarrelling.

It's easy for us to demand it sitting behind our screens from the comforts of our home. Most of us are never going to see active combat situations in our lives.

Do we really think that our families who are scared to see us bleed if we accidentally cut ourselves with a kitchen knife are mentally equipped to handle the realities of us going to the frontlines? Ask yourself and your family!

We are divided by man made imaginary belief systems that has humanity split into differing, warring factions for hundreds if not thousands of years.

It is naive to think 2019 or the future will change that or espousing genocide, ethnic cleansing or preaching hatred will stop anything or bring ever lasting peace.

It will continue to create more conflict than we can handle as the human population grows without restraint in all corners of the globe vying for the very limited resources that are within the confines of our man-made geographical boundaries.

War and diplomacy are both extremely complicated. It's not as easy as going to the movie theatre and watching a 2 hour war flick.

We need to let the Army do it's job. If anyone is keen on waging war, they should simply enlist themselves in the armed forces and head to the frontlines. But keep in mind that war always results in casualties on both sides and there is no everlasting peace.

It’s sad to see what has happened there. I agree war is no good. It won’t solve the root problem of the corrupt politicians in both countries. Both India and Pakistan have major issues with corruption. It’s up to us to solve those problems. The government will never fix itself or help the people there. Corruption and greed run too deep and it is a never ending cycle. They will continue to create problems and war and oppress the people to keep their power. As crypto grows stronger the governments will begin to lose power and control. They will all be replaced by decentralized consensus networks used by the people. The need for governments will soon pass. The people will finally be in control through the power of blockchain. I pray one day we can bring peace and stability to everyone there through crypto.

Quite true Johal. I hope that it happens in our lifetime. Greed, corruption, intolerance etc have ruined the growth and development possibilities in this region.

The thing is, there is something called an escalation ladder whose lowest-most rung is cross-border firing and the highest is nuclear exchange. In between there are heavy artillery shelling, surgical strikes, precision strikes using air-power and a limited conventional war.

So there are a lot of rungs, a lot of options available for the civilian leadership to choose from to punish Pakistan for its horrific deed against India.

Thankfully, unlike the war-hawks in the media, the civilian leadership is sensible and it will precisely choose which option would be the most effective. And honestly, had these deaths been of politicians, then and only then there would have been a war. As much as we think, the civilian leadership, irrespective of whichever party is in power, doesn't value military blood that much as we, the deluded commoners, would like to think so. So yeah, there won't be a war. At best, there will be a combination of the 3-4 lower rungs of the escalation ladder in various sectors on the border.

I am from India..and it's really very sad.I love my country very much. And this kind of incidents really break my heart.

Very well said!

Yes, wars are complicated and peace is simple. So why not opt for peace instead? In the long run, peace can never be attained through war and violence.

We need to work out all differences peacefully. Of course, it will take time but our efforts should be in that direction.

War is not solution of anything . Because there is a handful of people who is spoiling all the atmosphere. But after continuous such attacks and killing innocent people people only see a neighbouring nation but not the bunch of people that are spoiling everything. They are dictating things of their own.

We as a commoner can wait and watch but I think this time whole nation is unitedly asking for justice as revenge to the masterminds but I have a big concern about the internal informers serving to the terrorists and they are really big danger for the future generations also

Sitting in front of TV and discuss these things is the worst thing in our country. Merely speaking is not gonna do any good.

That's so well written. People are getting outraged with too many emotions, but it is not so simple as we feel things should happen. The people who are involved in these acts are of no nation or religion, they are just terrorist but sadly they are in those boundaries. There are many Indians also who are involved in these acts but this is just about the territory so we have strong reactions.
