Imaginary Creatures - Dorhinog The Warrior - Sketch Off Contest
Dorhinog ( Durinog ) - North mythology creature usually represented as mix of the dog an rhinoceros. Creatures armor decorated with ancient spells and runic symbols of warriors protection . He worn this armor for so long that it is embedded in to his body.
Here is little bit more info on my Dorhinog .Sorry for "creative" English writing .:) I base Dorhinog character
on ;
- Irish Wolfhound ( for speed and valor) ,
- bearded collie of Scottland( intelegence and cold temperature tolerance) ,
3 . Viking dog Garmr (guardianskills). - rhinoceros (invulnerability and powerful kick)
His armor protected by powerful spells that keep him at high level of strings during the battle as long as he fighting for truth or defend his land.
It was not easy to fit him in A-4 format:)
To compleat this drawing I use mix of materials:
sharpies
brown hair chalk ( looks good on paper :)
grey conte
Charcoal

Incredible your drawing. I'm starting to draw and it's still hard to get my creativity out. Working with charcoal I have only done it a couple of times because it is a material that dirties everything and with which it is difficult not to damage the work. You use it without problems. It's great to see someone with experience show their technique. I congratulate you and I thank you. Greetings.
You know...some people see the dirt as a "feature" not a "bug". I think that the tangibility of the charcoal medium is one of its biggest strength. Work the "dirt" into your image!
With the right knowledge and creativity, one can transform things. What you're saying's correct. I like it when someone transforms their weakness into a strength. I have to learn and see in the charcoal that its greatest disadvantage can also be its greatest strength.
Press that Coal hard enough and you just might end up with a diamond. And diamonds are forever.

Sh*tsnacks! This is really great! You used mythology together with the given imagery to come up with something of your own and it works! I really appreciate the detailed process pictures, the fact that you "got your hands dirty", worked within the allowed mediums and materials and seemed to have a good time while doing it. I would also like to commend your technical skill in completeting the drawing. Lighting, Shadows, Propotions, Details...it's all spot on! The armor design is really epic too. If I'd have any critique then it's that you could have expanded your write up a little more! Otherwise this is a very strong entry submitted just in time!

You've created an absolutely fantastic creature! The depth of his chest (for a fearsome cry I've no doubt) and how you filled him out through his stocky legs show how massively powerful your Dorhinog truly is! A captivating and beautiful drawing, from his snout to tip! of his tail!
