from Crowdfunding to ICO: the future of regulation

in #ico7 years ago

On Friday I was lucky enough to attend the ICO Summit meetup organised by Olga Feldmeier (thats us in the Picture here)

This was the first monthly Roundtable dedicated to different topics around crypto funding and ICOs.

There will be more coming around the middle of each month and the focus  wil be on:

  1. 1) discussion about the best code of conduct for ICOs (pre and post ICO)
  2. 2) giving startup teams the opportunity to pitch their ICO projects /or hosting an industry speaker (as was the case this month)

we saw a nice presentation given by Johannes Gees (CEO & Founder WeMakeIt)  titled :

From Traditional Crowdfunding to ICO: Mind the Gap

The goal of these events is to jointly work out a self-imposed code of conduct and give guidance for upcoming ICO projects in terms of best practice.  We all know that the regulators will not go away once you have their attention.  Here in Switzerland their attention was raised by the fact that there was an inflow of about 600 million dollars in capital just for ICOs.  Four of the biggest ones last year were done right here in the Crypto Valley near Zug.

So the aim is not to avoid the regulation but to work together and aid them so that the regulation is something that does not trample the little plant of crypto leaving it to mature into the enormous tree that we all know it will become.

The first event that kicked this off was the ICO Summit on the 15th September 2017.

and the video and more info is available on : www.icosummit.ch (available in the recorded live-stream minute 2:01)

I made 2 videos:  the first is a short intro given by Olga Feldmeier and the second is the presentation from Johannes Gees about the similarities between Crowdfunding and ICOs and how regulation affected them and will without a doubt also affect the ICOs in the future

Sort:

They're working hard on these new projects but what differs them from others? It can be great but I really don't know

its just that they are trying to avoid that the regulators just kill everything on sight... If they can create a dialogue and open communication that might get positive results instead of the government just saying NO without even thinking about it

The can't stop cryptos

no but they can make it really hard and annoying and the ICO will go to the countries where it is as easy for them as possible

Do we really need new ICOs? There are plenty already around and they can be highly competitive so it won't be good for Steem price, don't you think so?
