TOSS YOUR VOTES ABOUT LIKE CONFETTI

in #humor7 years ago (edited)

One of things you get to do on Steemit is vote for stuff. It’s fun and it’s free. Like splashing about in some water making squawking noises

This first picture is one of my own photos. It's a photo of a bird plashing about in some water making squawking noises.

All the other pictures below are just random pictures from my image collection. I found most of them from Google Images and have no idea where they originally came from. Nobody ever does really, which is why I once wrote about the futility of images credits on Steemit eight months ago:

https://steemit.com/anarchy/@sift666/good-etiquette-on-steemit

Then I put a sock in it because I wanted whales to vote for my posts. But now that my posts don't really seem to get that many votes anymore, I'm going to spit that sock out and say that I think most image credits are a bit meaningless.

VOTES

A lot of Steemers seem to ration out their votes like they are paying for every vote. Paying in dollars, or bitcoins, or in taking hard kicks to the nuts delivered with steel capped boots, or in having to get nipple rings.

Lets face it, the vast majority of you are plankton. Your votes are worth 5/8th of fuck all. What you are giving when you vote is encouragement - a boost to the ego of some poor sap who thinks nobody reads his posts. (or her, but women on Steemit all gets heaps of votes as long as they include naked selfies)

If your vote at full power is worth say 0.6 cents, and you vote for a heap of posts and comments until your voting power goes down to 0.4 cents, it really doesn't make any difference – either way your vote is worth bugger all. You are not exactly going to turn anyone into a whale with your vote.

Many people on Stemit seem to have a pathological fear of voting for comments. They don’t even upvote their own fucking comments! But really, if you don’t even like your own comments, who else is going to?

Why upvote your own comments? Firstly because the comments with votes come up at the top of the feed, and most people only look at the first few comments.

And secondly because you make yourself some money. OK, now I’m about to start going on about my own wallet, which is probably a bit like talking about the size of my penis (actually that could be a good idea for another post).

I’m not plankton, I’m a minnow, my account is now worth over $9000, and I earned that in only 10 months because I’m a Steemit god.

But I’m a bit crap at maths, so I’ll keep this as simple as possible (it still might be all wrong though): If my vote is worth 10 cents, and I post and upvote 10 of my own comments each day, that earns me $1 a day. Over a week that is $7. So I’m looking at $7 income each week just from upvoting my own comments . Over six months that’s 26 x $7 or $182.

Now lets say the value of Steem goes up 25 times in the next six months like at has in the past six (from 10 cents to $2.50) – then my $182 would be worth $4550.

Then lets say I mentioned all this stuff to @kiwideb and we started upvoting each others comments. If she upvotes my comments too, double that income to $9100! And same for her account, so double it all again ($18200) and our combined income just from our comments could make us into whales soon. And if not we will just have to eat more cake.

Now at this point I want to emphasise that I don’t just upvote my own comments. I upvote every comment that anyone does on any of my posts (unless the comment pisses me off), I also upvote every comment that is a reply to any of my comments anywhere else, and I usually upvote any other comments I see that I like or agree with everywhere.

And this brings me to me second point:

PICTURES

Even more common than the fear of voting, is the fear of copying and pasting pictures into comments. Yes I have a bit of an obsession with that. It’s sort of my Steemit trademark. Every comment I post includes a picture.

Trademarks can be good things, and like Donald Trump has a combover, and Justin Bieber has his arse round his knees, adding a picture gives my comments a distinct look, and makes them stand out.

When people are racing down a post having a quick look at the comments, they look at the first few at the top, and then just tend to notice any others below with pictures. At least that’s what I do. I especially notice comments with pictures that stand out like dog’s balls. And any pictures of dog’s balls, I really like those too.

And there it is – two of my secrets as to how I went from being plankton to a minnow. Remember, if you comment on this post I will upvote your comment and my vote is worth 10 cents. Unless I think you are a dick. Then I won’t upvote your comment.

But don’t worry, I won’t flag your comment, even if you are a dick, because I really really HATE fuckers who flag stuff.

Well I'm a goddamn dick! But that's okay, some of us have got to be. If you're not a dick sometimes you just can't stand out in a crowd (pun intended).

I'm inclined to agree that you should upvote whatever you find valuable, it helps you it helps me, it helps everyone. If you don't have a fucking slider, upvote your 100% and deal with it, or don't your choice really.

I absolutely HATE that my vote counts for nothing in the first place and less than nothing after about 40 of them because I curate GOLD damnit ... I mean seriously, if I like (upvote) it, I think you've done a good job contributing to the Steem community!

Well that's all I have to say for now ... so here's some Tits!

Great comment - and you voted for yourself and included a picture, so I tried being a 100% minnow - this new $ voting power is awesome!

When I vote up, it don't make a change,,, lol
I'm definitely a plankton
But I'm still throwing it around, here's too-ya

Upvoted with my 6 cent reward for you buddy :) - don't spend it all at once!

Interesting. I'm sure on some level, really saving your votes for high quality comments should provide for higher quality content -> better community -> higher steemprice -> better for you, but damn it, I'm upvoting this comment,

I'm new on this platform, never realised, that you can upvote your comments, thank you for this info.... (now i upvote my comment lol)

Thanks for the tips for team plankton!

I thought you liked dicks? Ooh doggie dicks ..You made me chuckle..

Talk about studs. Wait till he grows up.

you convinced me to bump up my ratio to 50% (for this post lol)

well said

use the upvote like a "like" button folks

especially on the newer Steemers!

soon to be plankton here. im going to post some photo too, after i figure out how to do that.

Just copy and paste - although I gather that can be a problem on phones, and if you are having any problems on your laptop or PC try a different browser - I find Opera or Chrome work best and have had problems with Firefox.
