Elevating The Game | #4 - The Ultimate Independence Machine-Catalogue (feat. Open Source Ecology)
One of the prime issues that make us dependent on the system is the availability of manufactured products and tools. Granted, we can craft a lot of things, make things ourselves and gradually lessen our dependence on the power structure through actions like growing food instead of buying it at a supermarket, learning skills and networking with people who are capable of building complex machines or tools rather than buying things off the internet that were made in some chinese factory... A lot of things we can achieve, but it seems for some necessities we really don't have much choice but to give in to the system for supplying us.
Well, I used to think that way until I stumbled upon a marvellous eye opener during my time in the zeitgeist movement I had never heard about before or even considered possible. There is an initiative out there that - I predict - will play a major role in getting us off the grid, lessen our dependence on the powers that be's monopoly of tool supply and ultimately put all the power back into our own hands...
Sounds too good to be true? Then I'm absolutely thrilled to tell you about Open Source Ecology!
Power to the people!
You see the idea is quite simple: Try and list all the major tools and machines needed to start a self-sustaining farm, village or community. Then find a way to make that happen without buying overpriced products by multinational corporations.
There are really good reasons to want alternatives to "traditional" commercial products - most of them today are all but geared towards maximum profit generation for the manufacturer and not for the benefit of the people actually using them. I have already written about this extensively in my ongoing TZM series, you can read up on these nefarious strategies in part 2: Waste = Profit
So how do we solve these dependency issues? Well, we take our list of essential tools and use grassroots technologies to enable people to help themselves.
Need an oven for your kitchen? Build it yourself! Want to use a tractor for your fields but not spend 250k for a commercial one? Well, build it from local materials with a few friends using the blueprints available online!
Literally any machine one could think of that is needed for a basic village and community to be self-sufficient is included in what the creator of open source ecology calls "The global village construction set" - a marvellous collection of blueprints, advise and dense information on how to create these essential tools for civilization to flourish. And as time goes on and more and more people get involved, that list will continue to grow. It's a perfect power-structure-resisting solution for a major problem of our era, and it's so little talked about that I just had to include it in this series. The machines are generally built from local and recycled materials as well to really make this revolution a grassroots progression rather than a mere top-down facelift of the status quo.
Instead of going even further into detail, let me share a rather significant and poignant TEDx talk with you that I can highly recommend to not only see what the global village construction set contains but also how it can be used to once and for all cut our dependence on the shackles of the inefficiency system we have grown up in.
This talk is already dated and yet as current as ever... and I am certain this movement of inventors, tinkerers and makers has only grown since its inception by one dude who had enough of feeding the system endlessly and still not getting ahead.
If you know any homesteaders who are struggling do make sure to send them this article or the video below. I predict it will drastically change the lives of so many people out there for the better not to mention what it could do for entire continents currently unable to break free from the colonial thumb of the "high tech economies".
Civilization Starter Kit - well that sounds about right ;)
If you have a thing for tinkering, love to make 3d models for 3d printers or can think of any other passion that aligns with this initiative you may easily share your knowledge and creations with humanity and enrich the lives of countless people (dare I say generations?!) who are building the future today, in the spirit of finally breaking free from the empire - one machine at a time.

I have put my involvement with ose on the backburner for a little while but am aiming to demonstrate my capabilities to replicate their 3-d printer and plastics recycler/filament extruder and teach others how to build them either on my land or on the road with my trailer. I highly believe opensource hardware is part of the solution for decentralize production and a more abundant future.
Great to see the people who are good with crafts have it on their radar. The concept of open source hardware is just so awesome and I had forgotten about it for a few years now until I stumbled on it again recently
You guys are inspiring diy'ers for sure!
Absolutely loved it! I didn't think it'd be 4 out of 4 resteems for this series until I watched it, he he.
Amazing stuff PP, as always 🔆
Thank you for all your love and support my friend
So glad to see your post and that you are still here. I was googling for an old post I did and stumbled upon your post from a year ago.
Here this one https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@paradigmprospect/let-your-life-be-a-friction-against-the-machine-paradigm-prospector-says-heya-steemit-family
Hey, I follow you but our paths haven't crossed in a while.
So you are homesteading a good idea.
Heya Becca
Yay I have steem'ed less lately but I can't let it go completely ;) Oh you found that way too expansive intro post of mine hehe.
Homesteading is the goal, first of all I gotta make my way out of "civilization" first in the next months, I think I have a plan ;)
Hope our paths cross will soon cross again, all the best to ya sis!
