Of course you have learned about what Visual Communication Design is, and also what Graphic Design is, therefore, to become a graphic designer, you must also be able to understand and learn what is called branding.

In the first few classes in this second season, we will learn a lot of material related to the design itself, and have not yet reached the point of practical assignments, because I as the principal of the school consider that the materials we teach are references or basic skills that must be possessed. by a professional graphic designer.

Okay fine, let's learn about branding and Graphic design.

• Branding? What's that ?

Maybe many of you already know what a brand is, but have you ever heard of what is called branding? Now, branding and branding are two things that are interconnected and related to each other, we can't do branding without a brand, and vice versa, a brand without branding will not make your brand meaningful.

So, in any business, the brand is the lifeblood of a business itself, because if you have a business but you don't have a brand, then your business will not last long, you could say the brand is an identity of the business itself. so if your business identity is bad, then your business will not survive.

That's why all companies are currently competing, and trying desperately to introduce their brand to users, so that's where branding is needed.

Well, everyone or business has their own way and strategy for branding, with the aim that their potential customers take actions such as buying or using the services of the business they are developing.

• Relationship Branding and Graphic Design.

And to do branding, all companies must have the right strategy, one of the key factors of this branding process is graphic design. Why do you need graphic design?

Of course, with graphic design art we can explain, review or even do art in graphic design to compare a brand owned by a company.

Graphic design skills are certainly needed for branding, because with this graphic design we can display information about a business product, whether it's about the product, quality and brand of the company itself.

And to process messages or information from a product, we must be able to process all the targets of the branding process into attractive visual forms that can be digested well by the company's marketing targets. Not only that, the scope of graphic design in the branding process also includes logo design, product design, and all other types of visuals.

• So how does the role of graphic design strengthen the branding process?

What comes to your mind when you see the symbol in the picture above? Of course you will remember a shoe brand, yes this is the Nike Logo, and this logo was created or designed by a graphic designer.

Therefore, if your company has a logo that is unique, simple, and easy to remember by the marketing target of a brand, then the branding process of a brand has been successful, and that is the responsibility of a graphic designer.

And besides having a role in the public attention of a brand, graphic design skills also have other roles, such as:

• As a good message delivery.

As I explained above, a graphic designer must be able to convey a message or information from a business so that it is easily understood by the target market.

Imagine, if a company doesn't say anything about the product or service they offer, will the target market know about this product? Of course not, because the product or service will be considered unattractive to our target market.

We certainly have to convey information from a product well, and also make the target interested in the products or services offered by the company with good graphic design.

• As a tool to control market tastes.

This time we talk about a famous brand CACACOLA or COLA COKE they change the shape of the packaging from time to time. Why do they do this?

Yes, of course, the tastes and character of the target market of a product or service will change and increase from time to time, for that it is necessary to update, or make adjustments in terms of the design that is owned by a product, this can also include logo adjustments. , and also the type of branding we do..

• As an attractive promotional tool

Many banners or advertisements appear on the internet today, and sometimes we are amazed to see the promotional advertisements so that we click or find out about the product. This is the result of a job from a graphic designer that is very much needed in the branding process which is a graphic design work. able to attract consumers as much as possible and also maintain the image and quality of the company.

• Conclusion

This is just the opening material that starts this Graphic design class, where we already understand the relationship between graphic design and Branding, where these two things cannot be separated from each other.

It has become a necessity and seems to be a certainty that currently almost all products or services that carry out marketing, of course require graphic designers where they are expected to be able to process all promotions and information from a product or service in a good form in order to be able to attract the target market to use it. products or services offered.
