Today, I would like to share with you some Balkan colors.
Balkan Colors?
Yes, these are photographs from one of my unique experiences I had while traveling around the Balkans, and the beautiful mountain parts of Serbia, in particular.
There was a narrow-gauge railway ride and what could possible go wrong when a travel starts with a loud "Cheers" by a friend? ;)

Если это железнодорожные шпалы ... я бы не хотел жить в таком дворике.
Шпала пропитываю креозотом чтобы оно не гнили ... а это тропинка к онкологии.
Тем более в жарком климате.

I think the sleepers have been processed somehow as there wasn't any strong smell. I remember that smell from my childhood. I liked it back then :)
Now seriously, I've been wondering where all the wooden sleepers disappeared in my country, they had all been replaced with concrete ones long time ago ;) Probably stored somewhere or already used in construction...

Interesting fact is that the whole Drvengrad (the Wooden City) built for the Emir Kosturica movie and now a big hotel complex with separate wooden houses, was covered in such sleepers.
No idea if they even realize it is toxic or probably they found a way to counteract on it (with huge dozes of alcohol, as we do on the Balkans) :)))
