Proyectos para la nueva escena

Hace casi tres años escribí aquí en Steemit una serie de artículos relativos a un personaje que me ha seguido durante mucho tiempo desde que elegí el teatro como profesión. Ella es Medea. Cuando escribía en aquella ocasión me preparaba tal vez inconscientemente para la escritura de un nuevo texto sobre esta heroína del género de la Tragedia clásica en Grecia y Roma.

Almost three years ago I wrote here in Steemit a series of articles about a character who has followed me for a long time since I chose theater as a profession. She is Medea. When I was writing on that occasion, perhaps I was unconsciously preparing myself for the writing of a new text about this heroine of the genre of Classical Tragedy in Greece and Rome.

La intención con esta, que será también la primera de una seria de publicaciones, será compartir textos que incluirán por una parte la revisión y traducción de los artículos que escribí para el blog en su momento, y por otra un material nuevo que surge de las reflexiones de estos artículos y forma parte del proceso de escritura dramática que se incluirá en un espectáculo que se está produciendo bajo la dirección de Pablo Herrero y la coordinación del Maestro José Ramón Enríquez.

This will be the first in a series of publications which main goal is to share texts that will include, on the one hand, the revision and translation of the texts that I wrote for the blog at the time, and on the other, new material that emerges from the reflections of these articles and is part of the dramatic writing process that will be included in a show that is now being produced under the direction by Pablo Herrero and the coordination by the Professor José Ramón Enríquez.

El Teatro en condiciones especiales

El espectáculo lleva por título Metempsicosis y contiene la dramaturgia de los tres actores que participamos en el proyecto en el que se habla sobre todo de la condición femenina y sus importantes problemáticas en nuestros días. Además de Medea, los otros personajes que serán invitados a la escena son Nora, de Casa de Muñecas, de Henrik Ibsen y Desdémona de la obra Otelo bajo la pluma del dramaturgo inglés William Shakespeare. Cada uno establece un diálogo con estos personajes icónicos de la literatura que trata de resolver nuestras posturas de apoyo y reclamos fundamentales en pro de las luchas de la mujer en la historia y también en el mundo contemporáneo.

The show is titled Metempsychosis and contains the dramaturgy of the three actors who participate in the project, which talks mainly about the female condition and its important problems in our day. In addition to Medea, the other characters that will be invited to the scene are Nora, from A Doll's house, by Henrik Ibsen and Desdemona from the play Othello by the pen of the English playwright William Shakespeare. Each one establishes a dialogue with these iconic characters in literature which try to resolve our positions of support and fundamental claims for the struggles of women in history and also in the contemporary world.

El espectáculo se realizará en dos fases, una presentación en video con la puesta en escena necesaria para elaborar un material en el lenguaje audiovisual, puesto que aún es incierto el momento de reapertura de teatros y espacios públicos esta será la base del trabajo. La siguiente fase será la puesta en escena del espectáculo en el teatro, atendiendo también a las disposiciones sanitarias especiales que requiera la presencia del público.

The project will take place in two phases, first a video presentation with the staging necessary to create our material in the audiovisual language, since the moment of reopening theaters and public spaces is still uncertain this is going to be a base of work. The next phase will be the staging of the show in the theater, also attending to the special sanitary provisions that the presence of the audience requires.

Sin más, inauguro esta primera publicación compartiendo un fragmento de texto que estoy realizando en el contexto de este proyecto de puesta en escenas en las condiciones especiales de crisis sanitaria que nuestro Mundo está experimentando.

Without further ado, I inaugurate this first publication sharing a fragment of the text that I am carrying out in the context of this project of staging in this special conditions of health crisis that our World is experiencing.

Medea epidemos

Episodio I (Español)

Hoy camino descalza sobre las arenas de esta ciudad que me odia. He pasado la noche despierta después de alimentar a los niños, tratando de penetrar la puerta de los pensamientos de Hécate, la diosa triple, hice también todas las oraciones tal como me las enseñó la bruja Circe.

Se hace fuerte, al acercarse la Aurora, el olor intenso de la muerte. La diosa abre la puerta a las imágenes más abominables. En lo más negro de la noche me acaricia con la voz, tras su oráculo simple se discierne la urgencia en la acción. Abraza el dolor, no hay otra manera. No existen premios ni castigos más allá de la bruma en la marea del eterno movimiento.

Al terminar de escucharla me queda la certeza de que al final del día mis hijos habrán muerto.

Jasón, el traidor a los sacramentos, el infiel, el necesitado; hoy se pierde entre los fuegos del deseo y el interés de verse coronado. Yo era muy joven cuando me enamoré de ese valor intrépido que demostraba, hoy descubro que todo el valor estuvo encerrado dentro de este mismo pecho.

Yo he perdido en el juego de las sociedades aunque me he esforzado en remediar los conflictos y las pruebas que son impuestas entre los hombres. He nacido mujer para no poder pasar por las puertas honorables de la fama y el reconocimiento, por eso he urdido engaños y promovido descuartizamientos. Todo ha sucedido, aunque nada pasó por mi mano. Una princesa maldita que no es más que una pluma flotando en los pensamientos retorcidos de la diosa Afrodita.

Heroína apestada, extranjera funesta, hoy me veré expulsada de esta playa en la que se fragua la forma en que mi historia será contada. Las lágrimas se unen al mar mientras mis rodillas se rinden al peso de mis penas. La espuma me sugiere mil ideas en su inocente blancura, ahí están la súplica, también el recogimiento, el filo de estas rocas funde mi visión hasta tocar lo negro.

He renegado ya bastante del espíritu sumiso, fui compañera de las más portentosas empresas del valor y el pensamiento, he procurado el cuidado del nido y he sido proveedora del alimento materno. Todo eso se ha acabado pues se ha roto el símbolo del anillo, el compromiso del lazo y el valor de la corona del casamiento. Dentro de todo el absurdo solo Jasón poseía el sentido en la caricia de sus manos y el cariño de su corazón atento.

He de separar esta sal de las aguas para crear una estatua de fuego y con ello sembraré de imaginaciones negras las mentes de los ciudadanos. A esta sal yo le ofrezco a la joven princesa, regalo de Creonte para su héroe, ya no tengo más miedos ante los trazos secretos del Hado, arderá en compensación de todos los juramentos que se han quebrado.

Episode I (English)

Today I'm barefoot on the sands of this city that hates me. I have spent the night awake after feeding the children, trying to penetrate the door of Hecate's thoughts, the triple goddess, I also did all the prayers as Circe, the witch, taught me.

As the Aurora approaches the intense smell of death grows stronger. The goddess opens the door to the most abominable images. In the darkest of the night she caresses me with her voice, behind her simple oracle is the urgency in the action, as I discern. Embrace the pain, there is no other way. There are no rewards or punishments beyond the haze in the tide of eternal movement.

When I finish listening to her, I am certain at the end of the day my children will be dead.

Jason, the traitor to the sacraments, the infidel, the needy. Today he's totally lost between sensual fires and the interest of being crowned. I was very young when I fell in love with that intrepid courage that he showed, today I discover that all the courage was inside my chest, tightly locked.

I have lost in the game of societies, although I have tried to remedy the conflicts and the tests that are imposed between men. I was born a woman, so I can't pass through the honorable doors of fame and recognition, that is why I've devised deceits and promoted dismemberment. Everything has happened, although nothing happened by my hand. A cursed princess who is nothing more than a feather floating in the goddess Aphrodite's twisted thoughts.

Plagued heroine, fatal foreigner, today I'll be expelled from this beach where the way my story will be told is forged. Tears join the sea as my knees yield to the weight of my sorrows. The foam suggests a thousand ideas in its innocent whiteness, there is the plea, also the seclusion, the edge of these rocks melts my vision until it touches the black of confusion.

I have already complained enough of the submissive spirit, I was a companion of the most marvelous enterprises of intelligence and courage, I have sought the care of the nest and I have been a provider of maternal food. All this is over because the symbol of the ring, the engagement of the cord and the value of the wedding crown have been broken. Within all the absurd, only Jason had the meaning in the caress of his hands and the affection of his attentive heart.

I must separate this salt from the waters to create a statue of fire and with it, I will sow the minds of the citizens with black imaginations. To this salt I offer the young princess, Creon's gift to his hero, I am no longer afraid of the secret traces of Hado, she will burn in compensation for all the broken oaths that have been spoken.
