Beautiful garden: cycling to visit my wealthy neighbours’ garden.

After working around the house and in my untidy garden, I took a break to cycle to my rich neighbours’ house. I was very curious about the progress they had made in their gardening design during the past few months. I haven’t seen their garden for quite some time so it’s time to update myself and to see how they had landscaped their garden.

I cycled along the dirt road for about five minutes to find two big houses, one a traditional Thai style wooden house and the other a big modern house with many expensive trees along the fence. The owner was working in the garden so I took the opportunity to ask for a guided tour of the garden.

The elderly lady was very nice and obliging; she was very happy to show me all her new pot plants, orchids and specially rare trees. I could take as many photos as I desired. The owner was a keen gardener and would get all the plants she wanted no matter how expensive they would be in the market.

This lady is the youngest sister of the owner of the smaller Thai house next door. This youngest sister married a very wealthy American businessman long time ago. Her family would probably move back home for their retirement. That’s why they have built a very big house and a beautiful garden.

She was rather used to being spoiled by her husband. She could spend money just like water sometimes. She told me that she couldn’t bring money with her after death so it’s better to spend on things she wanted for her garden.

If I had that much money, I would have been very careful on how I spent it so as to get the money’s worth. It seemed to me that she had been paying too much for many ordinary plants. I had a nice guided tour of her garden and was told about the prices of all the trees, which was quite shocking to me. Those vendors had been marking their prices up!

I quite like the way her gardener put orchids on mango trees. They seemed to thrive on mango tree bark. The lady had several orchids in pots by the gazebo which should be flowering in a month. I would love to see the new orchid blossoms. So, I should make another visit in a few weeks to take photos of new orchids.
