My Poem for contest - "The Last Penguins"

The remaining penguins stood like soldiers together
Waiting for a change in the weather
The ice flows were melting
Their home disappearing before their eyes

Global warming was taking its toll
Making it difficult taking control
of the weather conditions
they got to know

Suddenly a ship came over the horizon
Bringing a man made island
And more penguins they did alight
Two by two they waddled into sight

This man made home came piece by piece
a place to have their young and be safe
Until the weather comes back to its normal state
This would suffice for a couple of seasons

Let global warming cease and man submit to reason
So life as we knew it
could return
Season after season.

We can make a difference
to the planet we live in
if we all do our bit
To alleviate the burden on, sea, land and sky
A home we have been given.
