Pencil drawing, New Competition (No.38) - End of the season.
I don't know how people live where the seasons don't change but I'm used to the fact that after the cold comes warmth and after the warmth cold will inevitably come.
Not only I but everyone around me has gotten used to this.
For example it is thanks to this change of seasons that we can enjoy cherries and sweet cherries and many other tree fruits that will not bear fruit without a change of seasons.
And bees actively collect nectar and pollen until the last day of the honey collection season to provide their families with honey when they go into hibernation in their warm hives.
These thoughts gave me the idea for the drawing that I want to present to you today.
But the main motivator for this work was the periodic power outages during daylight hours and in order to use this time wisely I decided to draw.
The photographs were taken in the dim light that came through the window, the days were not very sunny, so you could say that I had to draw in the twilight.
There is one feature that is unusual for me which slightly puzzled me since I was used to drawing on A5 paper but it ran out and I was looking for some alternatives to this.
In the end I found an old children's drawing album but the sheets in it were A4 which is twice as big as what I was used to, and there was twice as much work.
But what can you do you can't look a gift horse in the mouth and so I began to draw on this paper and began with the composition of a large sunflower I'm not Van Gogh, but I like sunflowers too.
At first I was careful but then I began to work more boldly.
To be honest I hate monotonous work and here there are many similar elements but I tried to feel like a man who opened a million oysters for the sake of principle.
I did all the work in five days when the electricity was turned off but in total about fourteen hours today the power grids were especially good for me and I was able to spend six hours of daylight on the drawing and put the pencils on the table on top of the finished drawing.
The sunflower seeds have already formed the honey collection season has come to an end.
