In the last period, with the cryptocurrency market seemingly heading for an unprecedented bull run, many of us 'citizens' of this blockchain, as well as those of many others, have got into the habit of consulting the performance of our favourite tokens on a daily basis (don't try to deny it, we all do it more or less), with the hope of continuing in this direction for a long time to come.
With the price of Bitcoin at the $40,000 mark, it feels like we're reliving the golden age of 2017, when Satoshi Nakamoto's creation made many investors dream, before retreating heavily and settling back down to much lower figures for years. But what do cryptocurrencies have to do with the title of this post? If you'll be good enough to follow me, I'll explain it to you straight away.
The world of football, in some ways, is not so different. Many presidents, especially of small and medium-sized clubs (but with the current crisis also of the larger ones) are forced every year to go in search of promising young players, with the hope of making them grow and improve within their clubs and thus increase their value in a future resale. A bit like those who operate on the stock exchange, the managers of football clubs, relying on the experts by whom they are assisted, must bet from time to time on athletes able to make the leap in quality to the team, both technically and economically.
In this article we are going to find out which have been the best investments of the last year, listing the ten players of the Serie A able to increase their value more in percentage, thanks to the support of the site Transfermarkt, a sort of bible for football fans who want to stay updated on the latest market news.

Davide Faraoni (Verona)
The 29-year-old right-sided defender, who grew up at Inter but came from Crotone, is enjoying a sort of second youth in the city of Romeo and Juliet, after wandering between Italy and England in the Pozzo family's teams; He can also be used as a midfielder, he has become a strong point of Juric's team, especially for his ability to provide assists to his teammates and his market value has increased from 1.7 million last year to 6 million today, an increase of 252.9%.

Giuseppe Cuomo (Crotone)
Eight games in Serie A for the young central defender from Vico Equense, who grew up in the youth of the Calabrian club and for the first year he's employed in the professionals, after a short loan to Rende. He was also noticed by the national under-21 team of Paolo Nicolato, with whom he made two appearances, which contributed to increase the value of the player by 400%, from 200 thousand euros to 1 million.

In January last year his value was estimated at around three million euros, but to get him away from Atalanta, which is usually very expensive, the feeling is that today at least fifteen million euros are needed (+400%).

Mattia Zaccagni (Verona)
As a demonstration of the excellent intuition of the management and of the more than positive year of the Veronese team, a second yellow-blue element appears (for now) in this special classification: the 25-year-old advanced midfielder, taken from a very young age by Bellaria, has first trained on loan at Venezia and Cittadella, to then become an absolute protagonist in this championship of Verona. For Zaccagni we can already count four goals and five assists, and a versatility that allows him to cover with ease all the central roles of the midfield, making his value soar from three to fifteen million (+400%).

Giacomo Raspadori (Sassuolo)
Coming from the youth teams of the Emilian team, the 2000-born centre forward has already secured a fair amount of space in the first team, where he can count on twelve appearances and one goal this season. A staple of the various Italian national selections since 2016, when he made his debut with the Under 16 team, Raspadori is now worth around four million euros, with an increase in the value of the player's card that in the last year has recorded a significant +471.4%.

A career that began at Spezia when he was a teenager, but which was then spent in various football clubs around Italy, in order to complete his maturation. Picked up from Bologna youth team for just €100,000 in August 2019, Frabotta first joined the Juventus under-23 squad, with whom he played last season, winning the Serie C Coppa Italia. Twenty-one years old, originally from Rome, the Bianconeri left-back has already won the trust of Andrea Pirlo, who has already played him ten times in the first team this year, thus also influencing the value of his card, which has risen from 100,000 euros to around two and a half million in one year (+ 2400%).

Hellas Verona still holds the first position in this special ranking, where the young 20 years old central defender, Matteo Lovato, is the player of Serie A who has increased his value the most since last year. Bought from Padova only twelve months ago, despite his young age he has already been used thirteen times this season by Juric, who loves his marking skills and his ability to get the ball rolling from behind.
He costs, as of today, seven million, an increase of 4556% compared to the 150 thousand euros spent in January 2021.

Il mondo del calcio, per certi versi, non è così diverso. Molti presidenti, soprattutto di società medio piccole (ma con la crisi attuale anche di quelle più grandi) sono costretti ogni anno ad andare alla caccia di giovani promesse, con la speranza di farli crescere e migliorare all'interno delle loro società e così incrementarne il loro valore in una futura rivendita. Un po' come chi opera in borsa o si dedica al trading, i dirigenti dei club calcistici, affidandosi agli esperti dai quali sono coadiuvati, devono scommettere di volta in volta su gli atleti in grado di far fare il salto di qualità alla squadra, sia dal punto di vista tecnico che economico.
In questo articolo andremo pertanto a scoprire quali sono stati gli investimenti più azzeccati dell'ultimo anno, elencando i dieci calciatori della Serie A in grado di aumentare maggiormente il loro valore in percentuale, grazie al supporto sempre puntuale del sito Transfermarkt, una sorta di Bibbia per i calciofili che intendono rimanere aggiornati sulle ultime novità di mercato.

Il ventinovenne difensore laterale destro, cresciuto nell'Inter ma proveniente dal Crotone, sta vivendo una sorta di seconda giovinezza nella città di Romeo e Giulietta, dopo aver girovagato tra l'Italia e l'Inghilterra nelle squadre della famiglia Pozzo; impiegabile anche come centrocampista, è diventato un punto di forza della squadra di Juric, soprattutto per la sua capacità di fornire assist ai compagni e il suo valore di mercato è passato dagli 1,7 milioni dell'anno scorso ai 6 milioni attuali, con un incremento del 252,9%

Giuseppe Cuomo (Crotone)
Già otto partite in Serie A per il giovane difensore centrale di Vico Equense, crresciuto nelle giovanili della società calabrese e per il primo anno impiegato anche tra i professionisti, dopo un breve prestito al Rende. Si è accorta di lui anche la Nazionale under 21 di Paolo Nicolato con la quale ha messo a referto due presenze che hanno contribuito ad aumentare il valore del calciatore del 400%, passando da 200 mila euro ad 1 milione.

Matteo Pessina (Atalanta)
Il trequartista classe 1997, prelevato dal Milan nel 2017 per poco più di un milione e mezzo di euro, dopo i prestiti allo Spezia e al Verona degli anni scorsi, sta trovando sempre più spazio all'interno dello schieramento tattico di Gasperini, che apprezza in modo particolare le sue doti di palleggio e inserimento.
A gennaio dell'anno scorso il suo valore era stimato in circa tre milioni di euro, ma per portarlo via alla squadra bergamasca, bottega solitamente molto cara, la sensazione è che oggi ne servano almeno quindici (+400%).

Mattia Zaccagni (Verona)
A dimostrazione dell'ottimo fiuto della dirigenza e della più che positiva annata della squadra veronese, un secondo elemento gialloblu appare (per ora) in questa speciale classifica: il venticinquenne trequartista, pescato da giovanissimo nel Bellaria, si è prima fatto le ossa in prestito al Venezia e al Cittadella, per poi di diventare assoluto protagonista in questo campionato del Verona. Per Zaccagni già quattro goal e cinque assist, e una duttilità che lo porta a ricoprire con disinvoltura tutti i ruoli centrali del centrocampo, facendone schizzare il valore da tre a quindici milioni (+400%).

Proveniente dalle formazioni giovanili della squadra emiliana, la punta centrale classe 2000 si è già ritagliata un discreto spazio in prima squadra, nella quale può contare su dodici presenze e una rete in stagione. Punto fermo delle varie selezioni nazionali italiane a partire dal 2016, quando ha esordito con l'Under 16, Raspadori vale oggi circa quattro milioni di euro, con un incremento del valore del cartellino che nell'ultimo anno ha fatto registrare un significativo +471,4%.

Una carriera cominciata allo Spezia fin da adolescente, ma trascorsa in giro per l'Italia in varie società calcistiche dello Stivale, in modo da completare definitivamente la maturazione. A ventiquattro anni Simone Bastoni sembra finalmente in grado di stare tra "i grandi" e di poter dire la sua anche in Serie A, come testimoniano le sue nove presenze, condite da tre assist, nello Spezia versione 2020/21. Grazie alle prestazioni dell'ultimo periodo il valore del terzino sinistro spezzino è passato da 200 mila a 1,8 milioni di euro, con un incremento pari all'800%.

Gabriele Zappa (Cagliari)
Solo ventun anni, ma un futuro che appare luminoso, quello del terzino destro nativo di Monza, classe 1999. Comincia la sua carriera nell'Inter, che tuttavia non crede nelle sue qualità, cedendolo al Pescara, società dalla quale il Cagliari lo preleva dapprima in prestito, poi a titolo definitivo la scorsa estate.
Titolare fisso dello schieramento di Eusebio Di Francesco, Zappa ha già collezionato sedici presenze in stagione, ricambiando la fiducia dell'allenatore con tre assist. A Gennaio 2020 veniva quotato 500 mila euro, ora per strapparlo ai sardi la sensazione è che potrebbero non bastare sette milioni (+1300 %).

Matteo Gabbia (Milan)
Infortunatosi a dicembre nella partita di campionato contro il Parma, Matteo Gabbia ha comunque fatto in tempo a mostrare al mondo del pallone italiano le sue enormi qualità. Difensore centrale appena ventunenne, ma già dotato di ottimi tempi d'anticipo e di una forza fisica importante, ha inziato a giocare nelle formazioni giovanili del Milan, prima di completare la maturazione l'anno scorso in prestito alla Lucchese. Transfermarkt lo valuta già nove milioni di euro (ma credo siano destinati a crescere), con una differenza abissale (+ 1700%) rispetto ai 500 mila euro di Gennaio 2020.

Gianluca Frabotta (Juventus)
Prelevato dalle giovanili del Bologna per appena 100 mila euro nell'agosto del 2019, Frabotta si è dapprima aggregato alla formazione under 23 della Juventus, con la quale ha disputato la scorsa stagione vincendo la Coppa Italia di Serie C. Ventun anni, originario di Roma, il terzino sinistro bianconero ha già conquistato la fiducia di Andrea Pirlo, che lo ha schierato già dieci volte tra i grandi quest'anno, influendo così anche sul valore del cartellino, schizzato in un anno da 100 mila euro a circa due milioni e mezzo (+ 2400%).

E' ancora del Verona la prima posizione di questa speciale classifica, che vede in Matteo Lovato, giovanissimo difensore centrale di vent'anni, il giocatore della Serie A capace di incrementare maggiormente il suo valore. Acquistato dal Padova solo dodici mesi fa, a dispetto della giovane età, è stato impiegato già tredici volte in stagione da Juric, innamorato delle sue doti di marcatura e della sua abilità nel far ripartire l'azione da dietro.
Costa, ad oggi, sette milioni, con un incremento del 4556% rispetto ai 150 mila euro spesi a gennaio 2021.
