Dear friends, lovers of Italian football,
yesterday could become a fundamental day for the current championship of Serie A: three of the first four teams in the standings have in fact gone to heavy defeats, which have inevitably brought rivals closer and compacted the distances, demonstrating that the particular situation experienced since the emergency was proclaimed covid-19 is able to constantly reshuffle the cards and cancel the certainties that seemed consolidated.
The 80,000 spectators seen in previous years at the San Siro, for the great match between Milan and Juventus had to move to the screens, and it is a real disappointment because the match would have deserved the usual great crowd of the Milanese stadium.
The winner was the Bianconeri of Andrea Pirlo, who are now back in the race for the final victory, more for the inevitable injection of self-esteem that comes from such victories, than for the actual distance from the leader, who still remains seven lengths (albeit with a game less).
To partially justify Milan, which remains at the top of the standings due to the concomitant defeat of Inter, it is necessary to mention the numerous absences among the ranks of the team of Pioli, to which have been added in recent hours those of Krunic and Rebic, both positive to the test for the covid-19, as well as the Juventus players Alex Sandro and Cuadrado; The Rossoneri put up a brave fight throughout the match, but had to succumb to the higher technical level of the guests, inspired by a Federico Chiesa in a state of grace, author of two goals like a champion.
For Juventus, able to show its muscles again in an important challenge, as it happened at the Camp Nou against the Barcelona, now a new championship could open, but the continuity, which has been until now the real worry of the Old Lady, will have to turn into a constant, especially in the next month, which includes the direct clashes with Sassuolo, Inter and Roma.
The defeat of the leader could have launched, at the top of the standings, the real favourite of this championship, that is the Inter of Antonio Conte, however, ran into a not too lucky afternoon in Marassi against Sampdoria. The penalty missed by Alexis Sanchez in the first minutes has inevitably changed the inertia of the match, which seemed at first in favour of the guests, giving back courage to Ranieri's players.
The former Inter players eager for revenge, Candreva and Keita Balde, gave the impression, at least in the first half, to play a sort of game of life and Inter instead to suffer a little too much the absence of Lukaku; The second half of the guests' strong performance did not lead to a complete comeback, as it happened other times in the season, and the away match against an in-form Roma, in three days, will tell us if the defeat of Inter in Liguria was really, as it seems, the result of a physiological bad day, or if the cracks seen in the structure are destined to widen.
Even more clamorous, however, was the home debacle made by Napoli at the hands of Spezia: leading with Petagna just before the quarter of an hour of the second half, the Neapolitans were first reached by a penalty of Nzola, then even overtaken by the opponents, reduced to ten players after the second yellow card received by Ismajli. In the past few days there have often been questions about Andrea Pirlo's ability to manage a group of players from a great team, but without any false respectability I think the same questions should be asked about an overrated coach like Gattuso.
Roma kept their solitary third place by beating Crotone in a great first half thanks to the magic of Borja Mayoral, who scored a brace and was also responsible for the penalty scored by Armenian Mkhitaryan. Favoured by an easy schedule, Fonseca's team, skilful in the choice of a turn over, took advantage of it to line up their third consecutive victory, even if the evident difficulties encountered against the big teams suggest that, unless significant additions are made in the market, for the capital team the season will be more focused on qualifying for the next Champions League than on an unlikely title chase.
In the fight for fourth place, Atalanta is coming back strongly from behind, with its sixth consecutive useful result. After Fiorentina, Roma and Sassuolo, also the poor Parma had to face the fury of the attack of the team from Bergamo, now with 36 goals and second only to that of Inter, even if with one match less; as in previous years, after an initial period of adjustment, the team of Gasperini is beginning to gain confidence in its means and to become a potentially deadly opponent for anyone, so that I do not think it is too difficult to predict the Atalanta among the first four at the end of the championship.
At the bottom of the table, the success of Spezia in Neaples has temporarily pulled the Ligurians out of the quicksand of the relegation zone, inhabited since the beginning of the season by Genoa, Crotone and Torino, to which Parma has been added. After the umpteenth embarrassing performance of the team, the ducal team decided to recall on the bench Roberto D'Aversa, the coach of the double promotion from the Serie C to the Serie A and of the two championships ended with quiet salvations, mysteriously exonerated on the eve of the championship.

Statistics at hand, changes of coach almost never bring the desired result (see Prandelli at Fiorentina, back to the same disappointing performances obtained before the much glorified victory on the field of Juventus), but D'Aversa knows the team well and the players have shown over the years to be at ease with the "Italian style" schemes of the coach from Abruzzo, so I'm sure that Parma will be able to recover, starting from the next days.
In three days' time, Italian football fans will witness a very interesting round, with Roma v Inter the most interesting match, but also watch out for Juventus v Sassuolo, which will have to confirm the goodness of the path taken by the Italian champions against an opponent with a fast and unprejudiced game, and Milan v Torino FC, with the Rossoneri called upon to quickly forget the bitter defeat of Epiphany to continue to cultivate their tricolour dreams.

Cari amici amanti del calcio italiano,
quella vissuta ieri rischia di diventare una giornata fondamentale per l'attuale campionato di Serie A: tre delle prime quattro squadre della classifica sono infatti andate incontro a pesanti sconfitte, che hanno inevitabilmente riavvicinato le rivali e compattato le distanze, a dimostrazione che la situazione particolare vissuta da quando è stata proclamata l'emergenza covid-19 è in grado di rimescolare continuamente le carte e di annullare le certezze che sembravano consolidate.
Gli ottantamila spettatori visti negli anni precedenti a San Siro, per la grande sfida tra Milan e Juventus si sono per forza di cose dovuti trasferire davanti agli schermi, ed è un vero peccato perchè la partita avrebbe meritato l'abituale grande cornice di pubblico dello stadio milanese.
A spuntarla sono stati i bianconeri di Andrea Pirlo, tornati così prepotentemente in corsa per la vittoria finale, più per l'inevitabile iniezione di autostima che deriva da vittorie simili, che dall'effettiva distanza dalla capolista, che rimane ancora di sette lunghezze (seppur con una partita in meno).
A parziale giustificazione del Milan però, che rimane comunque in testa alla classifica per la concomitante sconfitta dell'Inter, occorre citare le numerose assenze tra le fila della squadra di Pioli, alle quali si sono aggiunte nelle ultime ore quelle di Krunic e Rebic, entrambi positivi al test per il covid-19, così come gli juventini Alex Sandro e Cuadrado; i rossoneri si sono battuti con coraggio per tutta la partita, ma sono dovuti soccombere di fronte al maggior tasso tecnico degli ospiti, ispirati da un Federico Chiesa in stato di grazia, autore di due reti di pregevole finitura.
Per la Juve, in grado di mostrare ancora i muscoli in una sfida importante, come avvenuto al Camp Nou contro il Barcellona, ora potrebbe aprirsi un nuovo campionato, ma la continuità, che è stato fino ad adesso il vero cruccio della Vecchia Signora, dovrà trasformarsi in una costante, specialmente nel prossimo mese, che prevede gli scontri diretti con Sassuolo, Inter e Roma.
La sconfitta della capolista avrebbe potuto lanciare, in testa alla classifica, la vera favorita di questo campionato, ovvero l'Inter di Antonio Conte, incappata tuttavia in un pomeriggio non troppo fortunato in quel di Marassi contro la Sampdoria. Il rigore fallito da Alexis Sanchez nei primi minuti ha inevitabilmente stravolto l'inerzia della gara, sembrata in un primo momento a favore degli ospiti, ridando coraggio agli uomini di Ranieri.
Gli avvelenatissimi ex Candreva e Keita Balde hanno regalato l'impressione, almeno nel primo tempo, di giocare una sorta di partita della vita e l'Inter invece di soffrire un po' troppo l'assenza di Lukaku; il secondo tempo gagliardo degli ospiti non ha portato questa volta alla rimonta, come accaduto altre volte in stagione, e la trasferta sul campo di una ritrovata Roma, tra tre giorni, ci dirà se la battuta d'arresto in terra ligure dell'Inter è stata davvero, come sembra, frutto del caso e di una fisiologica giornata storta, o se le crepe intraviste nella struttura sono destinate ad allargarsi.
Ancora più clamorosa però è stata la figuraccia casalinga rimediata dal Napoli per opera dello Spezia: in vantaggio con Petagna poco prima del quarto d'ora del secondo tempo, gli azzuri sono stati prima raggiunti da un rigore di Nzola, poi addirittura scavalcati dagli avversari, ridotti in dieci dopo la seconda ammonizione rimediata da Ismajli. Nelle precedenti giornate ci si è spesso interrogati sulle effettive capacità di Andrea Pirlo di gestire un gruppo di giocatori appartenenti ad una grande squadra, ma senza falsi perbenismi credo che le stesse domande andrebbero poste riguardo ad un tecnico sopravvalutato come Gattuso.
La Roma mantiene il terzo posto in solitaria, avendo ragione del Crotone grazie ad un grande primo tempo segnato dalle magie di Borja Mayoral, autore di una doppietta e in grado di procurarsi il rigore trasformato dall'armeno Mkhitaryan . Favorita da un calendario non troppo impegnativo, la squadra di Fonseca, abile nella scelta del turn over, ne ha approfittato per mettere in fila la terza vittoria consecutiva, anche se le difficoltà evidenti incontrate contro le grandi squadre lasciano pensare che, a meno di innesti significativi sul mercato, per i capitolini la stagione sarà più incentrata sulla qualificazione alla prossima Champions Leagueche ad una poco probabile rincorsa al titolo.
Nella lotta per il quarto posto sta rinvenendo fortissimo da dietro l'Atalanta, giunta al sesto risultato utile consecutivo. Dopo la Fiorentina, la Roma e il Sassuolo, anche al povero Parma è toccato scontrarsi con la furia dell'attacco bergamasco, giunto a quota 36 reti e secondo solo a quello dell'Inter, seppure con una partita in meno; come negli anni precedenti, dopo un primo periodo di assestamento, la squadra di Gasperini comincia a prendere confidenza dei propri mezzi e a diventare un avversario potenzialmente mortifero per chiunque, tanto che non credo sia troppo difficile pronosticare l'Atalanta tra le prime quattro al termine del campionato.
In coda il colpaccio dello Spezia a Napoli ha momentaneamente tirato i liguri fuori dalle sabbie mobili della zona retrocessione, abitate, ormai da inizio campionato, da Genoa, Crotone e Torino, alle quali si è aggiunto il Parma. I ducali, dopo l'ennesima prestazione imbarazzante della squadra, si sono decisi a richiamare sulla panchina Roberto D'Aversa, il mister della doppia promozione dalla Serie C alla Serie A e dei due campionati conclusi centrando tranquille salvezze, misteriosamente esonerato alla vigilia del campionato.
Statistiche alla mano, i cambi di allenatore non portano quasi mai il risultato sperato (vedasi Prandelli alla Fiorentina, tornata alle mesesime prestazioni deludenti ottenute prima della tanto glorificata vittoria sul campo della Juventus), ma D'Aversa conosce bene la squadra e i giocatori hanno dimostrato negli anni di trovarsi a meraviglia con gli schemi "all'italiana" dell'allenatore abruzzese, tanto che sono sicuro che il Parma saprà riprendersi, a partire dalle prossime giornate.
Tra tre giorni gli appassionati del calcio italiano godranno di un turno molto interessante, che vedrà in Roma-Inter il suo match clou, ma attenzione anche a Juventus-Sassuolo, che dovrà confermare la bontà del percorso intrapreso dai campioni d'Italia contro un avversario dal gioco veloce e spregiudicato, e a Milan-Torino, con i rossoneri chiamati a dimenticare in fretta la cocente sconfitta della Befana per continuare a coltivare i sogni tricolori.
