We are now less than 48 hours away from the opening of the January market, a month-long window that will allow teams in Italy and around the world to remedy the problems seen in the first half of the season.
The situation regarding the covid-19 has unfortunately had a very negative impact on the economy, and football has also had to deal with a drastic reduction in its revenue and currency circulation; it is very likely that this year we will not see a repeat of the big deals seen in previous sessions, and that teams will have to resort to the creativity of their managers to make deals to strengthen their roster, and in this regard it is mainly players with expiring contracts that whet the appetites of coaches and presidents.
But which players, currently working in foreign leagues, could we see in Serie A starting this month? Let's find out together, evaluating for each of them the real possibilities of their imminent transfer to the most difficult championship in the world.

Born in 1994, the Dutch striker currently in the Lyon is expiring his contract in June and could be an excellent solution for those looking for a fast second striker, able to play both on the right and left of the front, or if necessary also in the centre; his best characteristics are his sprinting and dribbling in tight spaces and a not excessively high salary (just over 4 million euros per season) make him one of the most valuable pieces of the winter market.
He could be snapped up immediately, but in this case, the president of the French team, Aulas, seems adamant and does not intend to sell him for a handful of peanuts, or more easily in June, in a free transfer: he seemed destined for Barcelona, but the Catalans have recently declared that they are no longer interested in the player, and Italian teams could take advantage of this.
Probability: Milan 30%, Juventus 25%.
Diego Costa
After ten years, 215 games and 83 goals, Diego Costa has terminated his contract with Atletico Madrid. The 32-year-old Brazilian striker, now a naturalised Spaniard, had apparently come into such conflict with all his teammates at the colchoneros that he became such a toxic element for the team that he had to be sent off. With his great physique and combative character, the South American striker is a temptation for many clubs around Europe, and the Premier League, on the Arsenal side, seems the most likely destination.
Attention, however, because the bookmakers do not exclude the Italian track, especially that of Juventus, still looking for someone who can become the reserve of Morata who offers technical guarantees and allows Pirlo some more changes, and that of Inter, where he would find his former coach Antonio Conte.

Graziano Pellè
Coming back from the Chinese experience, in which he maintained an interesting scoring average, close to one goal every two games, the Salento striker has been released by his former team also following the salary cap imposed by the Asian country's government, which makes the fifteen million salary paid to him by Shandong Luneng far out of the budget.
A forward with international experience (he has also played in England and Holland), great physical presence and fair speed of movement, Pellé seems to have ended up on the radar of some Italian clubs looking for a reserve striker, but at the age of thirty-six he will have to reduce his financial demands if he wants to continue his career in his homeland.

Leandro Paredes
The fact that Christian Eriksen and Antonio Conte are now at loggerheads, is no longer a mystery to anyone: the Danish midfielder, who arrived in Milan in the last January market amidst the shouts of jubilation of the Nerazzurri supporters, has definitely disappointed expectations and seems to want to definitely close the doors to his stay in Italy. Marotta and Ausilio, also taking advantage of the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino on the bench of the French champions, are trying to save what can be saved in the last hours, proposing to Paris Saint Germain an exchange of loans with the former Roma player Leandro Paredes, but the Argentine player has not declared himself enthusiastic to return to the Italian fields.
More suited to the midfield envisioned by the Inter coach than Eriksen (who would happily return to play with his former coach at Tottenham), Paredes could be a winning move, but the chances of seeing him at the Nerazzurri, at the moment, don't seem great.

Krzysztof Piątek
Some sporting newspapers give as a certainty the return to Italy of Krzysztof Piątek, eclectic Polish striker born in 1995, exploded in Genoa and then passed from Milan to Herta Berlin, but in the last hours, also thanks to a rediscovered state of grace of the former number nine redblu, it seems that the managers of the German club are having second thoughts and that the loan until June (with right of redemption) to his former team is not so obvious.
Medical examinations are planned, or will the president of Genoa, Enrico Preziosi, be left holding the bag? It is certain that Piątek, who knows the Ligurian environment well and would gladly return to Italy, would considerably increase Genoa's chances of being saved, and it is to be believed that the management of Italy's oldest team will do everything in their power to bring home their prodigal son.

Lucas Torreira
Already seen in Italy with Pescara and Sampdoria, Torreira is a midfielder who is good at catching balls, but also has a fine and "educated" foot, which often leads him to take on the role of playmaker. After his experience in Italy, he moved to the Premier League, to Arsenal, where he was employed with good continuity before being loaned to Atletico Madrid, but without much success.
The Uruguayan midfielder, born in 1996, is looking for a new team to play with more continuity, and it seems that the Italian solution would not be unwelcome to the player, given the lack of intention of both the English and Spanish to include him in their future plans.

Antonio Rüdiger
To the delight of Fabio Caressa, and all those football fans who tend to pronounce the letter 'R' in a pinch, the former Roma defender is said to be in the sights of a number of Italian clubs looking to fill some gaps in the defence.
The statuesque 28-year-old German centre-back has reached the end of his career with the Chelsea shirt and has reportedly instructed his agent to sound out a number of possible options. Juventus are interested in him because of the delicate situation of captain Giorgio Chiellini's knees, but also AC Milan would like to give him to Pioli in order to complete the squad and aim more and more decisively to the Scudetto. In both cases, we are talking about a loan, with the definitive purchase to be discussed again in June on the basis of a sum of around 20 million.

Bryan Reynolds
Not yet 20 years old, yet already attracting the attention of several major European clubs, Reynolds is a natural right-back with incredible acceleration, exceptional physique and drunken dribbling. In 2016 he set the record for being the youngest player to sign a professional contract with his current club (Dallas F.C.), when he had just turned fifteen, and in this MLS season he seems to have definitely exploded, combining a tactical maturity with his already undisputed technical skills.
Juventus are seriously thinking about him, who, however, having all the slots dedicated to non-EU players occupied, would take him to transfer him on loan to Cagliari, but also Roma have stepped forward, according to official news from the American League, with an offer of 7.5 million euros.

Brought up in the youth ranks of Olympique Marseille, the 20-year-old French defender moved to Strasbourg four years ago, initially joining the second team before making his mark in the starting line-up this season.
Physically strong but with good technique, he is getting better and better at setting up the play from the back, learning to play on the flanks when needed.
Milan have had their eye on the youngster for several months, but recently Napoli have also been trying to secure his services; the twelve million offered by Paolo Maldini on behalf of the Rossoneri have been deemed insufficient by Strasbourg, who are aiming to get at least twenty million, and the partenopei could make an offer in case of income from the market.

The new sporting director of Roma, Tiago Pinto, at the suggestion of Paulo Fonseca, who has already coached him at Shaktar, seems to have set his sights on the versatile Brazilian advanced midfielder of Everton, who is finding less and less space with Ancelotti.

ormai ci siamo, mancano meno di quarantotto ore all'apertura del mercato di gennaio, finestra temporale di circa un mese che permetterà alle squadre nostrane e di buona parte del mondo di porre rimedio ai problemi di organico visti nella prima parte di stagione.
La situazione relativa al covid-19 ha purtroppo impattato in maniera oltremodo negativa sull'economia, e anche il calcio ha dovuto, per forza di cose, fare i conti con un drastico ridimensionamento delle proprie entrare e della circolazione della moneta; è molto probabile che quest'anno non vedremo repliche dei grossi affari registrati nelle sessioni precedenti, e che le squadre dovranno ricorrere alla creatività dei loro dirigenti per concludere dei colpi che rinforzino la rosa, e a tal proposito sono soprattutto i giocatori vicini alla scadenza di contratto a stuzzicare maggiormente gli appetiti di allenatori e presidenti.
Ma quali giocatori, impegnati attualmente nei campionati esteri, potremmo vedere in Serie A a partire da questo mese? Scopriamolo insieme, valutando per ciascuno di essi le effettive possibilità di un suo imminente trasferimento nel campionato più difficile del mondo.
Memphis Depay
Classe 1994, l'attaccante olandese attualmente in forza al Lione è in scadenza di contratto a giugno e può rappresentare un ottima soluzione per chi è in cerca di una seconda punta veloce, in grado di giocare sia a destra che a sinistra del fronte avanzato, o all'occorrenza anche al centro; ha nello scatto e nel dribbling in spazi stretti le sue caratteristiche migliori e un stipendio non eccessivamente elevato (poco più di 4 milioni di euro a stagione) lo rendono uno dei pezzi più pregiati del mercato invernale.
Lo si può prendere subito, ma in questo caso il presidente Aulas appare irremovibile e non intende cederlo per un pugno di noccioline, o a giugno, a parametro zero: sembrava destinato al Barcellona, ma i catalani hanno ultimamente dichiarato il venir meno del loro interesse per il calciatore, e le squadre italiane potrebbero approfittarne.

Diego Costa
Dopo dieci anni, 215 partite e 83 goal, Diego Costa ha rescisso il proprio contratto che lo legava all'Atletico Madrid. Il trentaduenne attaccante brasiliano, naturalizzato spagnolo, pare fosse entrato in netto contrasto con l'intero spogliatoio dei colchoneros, tanto da diventare un elemento così tossico per il gruppo da dover essere espulso. Dotato di grande fisico e di un carattere combattente, l'attaccante sudamericano fa gola a molti club in giro per l'Europa, e la Premier League, sponda Arsenal, appare ad oggi la sua destinazione più probabile.
Attenzione però, perché i bookmakers non escludono la pista italiana, specialmente quella della Juventus, ancora in cerca di un vice Morata che offra garanzie tecniche e permetta a Pirlo qualche cambio in più, e quella interista, dove ritroverebbe il suo ex allenatore Antonio Conte.

Graziano Pellè
Reduce dall'esperienza cinese, nella quale ha mantenuto un'interessante media realizzativa, vicina ad una rete ogni due partite, l'attaccante salentino si è svincolato dalla sua ex squadra anche in seguito al tetto salariale imposto dal governo del Paese asiatico, che rende di gran lunga fuori budget i quindici milioni di stipendio a lui riconosciuti dallo Shandong Luneng.
Prima punta dotata di esperienza internazionale (ha giocato anche in Inghilterra e Olanda), grande presenza fisica e discreta rapidità di movimento, Pellé pare terminato nei radar di alcune società italiane alla caccia di un attaccante di riserva, ma alla soglia dei trentasei anni dovrà ridurre di parecchio le proprie pretese economiche qualora intenzionato a proseguire la carriera nella sua terra natale.

Leandro Paredes
Che Christian Eriksen ed Antonio Conte siano ormai arrivati ai ferri corti, non è più un mistero per nessuno: il centrocampista danese, sbarcato a Milano nello scorso mercato di gennaio tra le urla di giubilo dei sostenitori nerazzurri, ha decisamente deluso le aspettative e sembra voler definitivamente chiudere le porte ad una sua permanenza in Italia. Marotta e Ausilio, approfittando anche dell'approdo di Mauricio Pochettino sulla panchina dei campioni di Francia, stanno cercando nelle ultime ore di salvare il salvabile, proponendo al Paris Saint Germain uno scambio di prestiti con l'ex romanista Leandro Paredes, ma il calciatore argentino non si è dichiarato entusiasta di tornare a solcare i campi italiani.
Più adatto alla mediana immaginata dal tecnico dell'Inter di quanto non lo sia Eriksen (che tornebbe volentieri a giocare con il suo ex allenatore ai tempi del Tottenham), Paredes potrebbe risultare una mossa vincente, ma le possibilità di vederlo in nerazzurro, al momento, non sembrano tantissime.

Krzysztof Piątek
Alcuni quotidiani sportivi danno ormai per certo il ritorno in Italia di Krzysztof Piątek, eclettico attaccante polacco classe 1995, esploso nel Genoa e passato poi dal Milan all'Herta Berlino, ma nelle ultime ore, complice anche un ritrovato stato di grazia dell'ex numero nove rossoblu, pare che i dirigenti della società tedesca ci stiano ripensando e che il prestito fino a giugno (con diritto di riscatto) alla sua ex squadra non sia poi così scontato.
Visite mediche programmate quindi, o pugno di mosche in mano per il presidente del Genoa, Enrico Preziosi? Di sicuro Piątek, che conosce bene l'ambiente ligure e che tornerebbe molto volentieri in Italia, aumenterebbe considerevolmente le chanches del Genoa di salvarsi, e c'è da credere che la dirigenza della squadra più antica d'Italia farà di tutto per riportare a casa il suo figliol prodigo.

Lucas Torreira
Già visto in Italia con le maglie del Pescara e della Sampdoria, Torreira è un centrocampista abile nel recuperare palloni, ma dal piede anche fine ed "educato", che lo porta spesso ad intraprendere compiti da regista puro. Dopo l'esperienza italiana è emigrato in Premier League, all'Arsenal, dove è stato impiegato con buona continuità, prima di essere prestato all'Atletico Madrid, senza tuttavia raccogliere molti consensi.
Il centrocampista uruguaiano, classe 1996, è alla ricerca di una nuova squadra dove giocare con più continuità, e pare che la soluzione italiana non sarebbe sgradita al calciatore, vista la scarsa intenzione sia degli inglesi che degli spagnoli di includerlo nei piani futuri.
Probabilità: Fiorentina 35%, Torino 15%
Antonio Rüdiger
Per la gioia di Fabio Caressa, e di tutti gli appassionati di calcio che tendono a pronunciare in modo particolare la lettera "R", l'ex difensore della Roma sarebbe finito nel mirino di alcune società italiane, intenzionate a colmare alcuni vuoti nel reparto arretrato.
Lo statuario ventottenne centrale tedesco è infatti arrivato al capolinea della sua storia professionale con la maglia del Chelsea, e avrebbe dato mandato al proprio agente di sondare alcune piste percorribili. La Juventus si è interessata vista la situazione delicata in cui versano le ginocchia di capitan Giorgio Chiellini, ma anche il Milan vorrebbe regalarlo a Pioli in modo da completare la rosa e puntare con sempre più decisione allo scudetto. In entrambi i casi si parlerebbe di prestito, con acquisto definitivo da eventualmente ridiscutere a giugno sulla base di una cifra intorno ai venti milioni.

Ci sta pensando seriamente la Juventus, che avendo tuttavia tutti gli slot dedicati ai giocatori extra-comunitari occupati, lo prenderebbe per girarlo in prestito al Cagliari, ma anche la Roma si sarebbe fatta avanti, secondo notizie ufficiali della Lega americana, con un'offerta di 7,5 milioni di euro.

Cresciuto nelle giovanili del Olympique Marsiglia, il ventenne difensore francese si trasferisce allo Strasburgo quattro anni fa, aggregandosi dapprima alla seconda squadra, prima di imporsi anche tra i titolari in questa stagione.
Forte fisicamente ma dalla discreta tecnica, sta migliorando sempre di più anche nell'impostazione della manovra da dietro, imparando anche a giocare sulle fasce laterali all'occorrenza.
Il Milan ha messo gli occhi addosso al ragazzo da diversi mesi, ma ultimamente anche il Napoli si sta facendo sotto per assicurarsi le sue prestazioni; i dodici milioni offerti da Paolo Maldini per conto della società rossonera sono stati ritenuti insufficienti dallo Strasburgo, che punta a ricavarne almeno venti, e i partenopei potrebbero fare un'offerta in caso di entrate dal mercato.
