Might be useful to publish and pin as soon as possible a 'Rules of the Game' post in the SteemLinks Community.

Unfortunately there is no facility yet for filtering or sub-categorize posts in Communities.

Therefore the only way at present to give subject focus will be to build a family of SteemLinks communities, maybe for example...

  • Crypto & Finance
  • Science & Technology

etc etc

These could be grown as suitable MODs can be found.

Maybe @remlaps might want to pick up the SteemLinks - Science & Technology community.

Then just have some common standards and guidelines for the communities in the SteemLinks family.

Thank you

The Steemit Team

Hi @steemcurator01 and @famigliacurione,

Thanks for the mentions in the comment and in the video!

I totally agree with the concept. I am a big fan of link-sharing in theoldreader.com (or Google Reader in the old days). And I'd love to see something similar here. There have been a couple attempts here, dike and parley ( I think ), but both had clunky interfaces, and as the video notes, spam was a problem. My digest posts were actually an attempt to find a viable compromise between link-sharing and long form blogging.

The "brain" should be just as much about the conversation and the links between posts as about the top-level posts. We're missing out on too many of the links and conversations (IMO). Also, @cmp2020 and I were just talking the other day about how it shouldn't be stigmatized for someone to participate in "social media" without spending an hour or several on posting - Facebook and Twitter being obvious cases in point. I think @whatsup would like this idea, too.

Brainstorming, here is a suggeston for moderation:

  1. Community owner commits to keeping a moderation account powered up for a period of time (6 months, 1 year, 5 years?)
  2. Steemit delegate to a moderation account for use upvoting and downvoting within the community.
  3. When posting in the community, members must "pay dues" to support moderation by setting an X% (1%? 5%? 10%?) beneficiary setting to the moderation account or else the post gets muted.
  4. Moderation account is used to support legitimate shares and to downvote and mute spammers.
  5. If the moderation account starts to power down before the committed time period (or otherwise abuses the delegation), Steemit removes the delegation.
  6. After the time commitment lapses, steemit removes the delegation, and the moderation account has to self-support.

I'd be willing to make a run at creating and moderating a sibling-community for STEM links if we agree on rules and want to branch out into topic specific communities. It might be a good idea to wait a while first, 'til traffic develops in the existing community, and then break it out if/when there is demand for it.

It might be a good idea to wait a while first, 'til traffic develops in the existing community, and then break it out if/when there is demand for it.

I really like this insight, and believe that this is the most important thing to do at the moment. I don't want to encourage reward-chasers to flock in. It would be really nice to see a slow buildup of genuine content-enthusiasts first. And thank you for mentioning @whatsup because she was and is a great inspiration for the promoting of casual social media here on Steemit.

Unfortunately we have no facility for giving delegations direct to communities at present.

The only delegations we are currently able to provide are to Country Representatives (5000 SP). These are still available for suitable candidates...

Otherwise we are encouraging communities to set up community curation accounts to seek delegations from members.

We can also support through more significant votes on powered up posts on these community accounts. These posts might be progress reports or weekly updates etc.

Some communities like Best of India are beginning to make good progress through this route.

Thank you, as always, for your insightful suggestions, and for taking the time to genuinely listen to the show; I really appreciate it! For now, I have not considered Rules, but I have begun to lay out the style that I would like to see within the community here: How to Create Awesome Steem Links

And taking note of your suggestions, we will monitor users to see who contributes the better quality Steem Links. As people misbehave, and hopefully they won't, we will begin to enforce rules through downvotes and muting.

Always grateful for the support and encouragement! Thank you!
