상주 솔숲의 주인공은 맥문동일까, 소나무일까
상주 화북면의 맥문동 솔숲은 이름만 들어도 보랏빛 파도가 출렁일 것 같은 기대를 안겨주지요. 저도 소문을 듣고 8월 끝자락에 찾아갔는데, 결과는 조금은 다른 풍경이었어요.
맥문동꽃은 드문드문 얼굴을 내밀어 ‘장관’이라기엔 아쉬웠지만, 오히려 그 소박함이 진짜 자연의 모습 같다는 생각이 들더군요. 화려한 무대 대신, 무심한 듯 서 있는 소나무들이 묵직한 존재감을 드러내며 숲의 주인공 자리를 지키고 있었어요.
그 모습이 꼭 인생의 무대 뒤에서 묵묵히 받쳐주는 조연 같달까요? 비록 꽃은 기대만큼 화려하지 않았지만, 소나무 향과 바람, 그리고 드문드문 피어난 보랏빛이 만들어낸 조화는 한 폭의 수묵화처럼 고즈넉했답니다.
결국 여행은 풍경보다도 내가 무엇을 보고 느끼느냐에 달린 것 같아요. 작은 꽃 한 송이에서도 계절의 이야기를 읽어낼 수 있으니까요.
