58년 만에 돌아온 트램, 위례선 달린다!

서울시는 9월 4일 국내 최초 무가선 친환경 트램 ‘위례선’의 예비주행시험을 시작했다고 밝혔습니다. 이번 시험은 충북 오송시험선에서 약 한 달간 5,000km 이상 주행하며 가속·제동, 곡선주행, 신호·통신, 소음·진동, 승차감 등을 종합 점검합니다.
위례선은 5호선 마천역과 8호선·분당선 복정역, 8호선 남위례역을 잇는 5.4km 노선으로 12개 정거장과 10편성 전동차가 투입될 예정입니다. 기존 전차선 대신 지붕 배터리로 운행되는 친환경 교통수단이며, 교통약자를 고려한 초저상 차량과 충돌경보·긴급제동 장치를 갖췄습니다.
1968년 사라진 트램이 58년 만에 서울에 부활한다는 점에서 역사적 의미가 크지만, 도로 공유 방식 특성상 보행자 안전 확보가 최대 과제로 꼽힙니다.
따라서 교차로·횡단보도 안전시스템의 정밀 운용이 관건이 될 것입니다.
