What Is a Tag?
A tag is something that helps your post reach the right audience easily. For example, let's say I posted about travel. Now, on Steemit, many people love to read travel-related posts. If you use the "travel" tag in your post, it will easily reach travel enthusiasts who are interested in such content. Additionally, if someone searches on Google using a specific keyword related to your post and you've used that tag on Steemit, your post might appear in the search results, attracting even more readers.
Let's delve into some important aspects of using tags that many might not be aware of:
You can use up to 8 tags on Steemit.
Your tags must be relevant to your post's content. The tags should match the context of your post.
Tags should not have spaces between words. For example, if you use two tags, there should be no space between them.
Your tags serve as keywords, which can help with your post's ranking.
Tags should be in lowercase. Uppercase tags won't be accepted.
You might be surprised to know that your post's title is also a tag. It can help your post rank better.
Here are some popular tags and their usage:
- #thedairygame: Use this tag if you post about your daily activities within 24 hours. It's a common tag for daily diaries.
- #travel: If your post is travel-related and shares your experiences and stories from your travels, using this tag is suitable.
- #steemexclusive: It's essential to post original content on Steemit, not copied from elsewhere. So, if your post is your original work, you can use this tag.
- #creativewriting: Use this tag for educational posts or when your post showcases creativity.
- #crypto: If your post is related to cryptocurrency, you can use this tag.

There are many more tags that we use regularly. Tags are an interesting topic to explore, and I'll share more insights on them in upcoming posts, Insha'Allah.
