[ESP-ENG] Steemit Engagement Chalenge, season 2, week 4, My job / Occupation.

Personal development and professional development works hand in glove. To develop personally, forethought and efforts go in to place and so is professional development.

In this contest, I am going to talk about how I was able to develop myself to what I am today in a professional way. Although my decision or choice of profession went into stages. I had to plan and replan. I had to choose and rechoose. I had to push and repush to get me to where I am today. My case was not straight forward and all because of my brought up.

I didn't have the opportunity to stay with me y parents to have a straight or direct guidience from them. I had to learn from infancy to adapt to any situation I found myself.

When it comes to my dream and aspirations with regard my profession, it all became a but clear to me when I wanted to write my senior WEAC (west African Examination Council). This is an entrance exam into the higher institution.

I had always wanted to be anything at all so long as there will be food on the table. But when it was time for my exam, then one of my brothers that had already travelled to the USA advised me to go into sciences and became a professional nurse so that I can join him there. Well, I tried my best to first pass the exam since it was a prerequisite.

Profession between 2002 and 2005

After that exam which I passed with flying colors, I started taking the direct entry exams into the nursing schools. For 3 years after then, I took part the entrance nursing exams for 2 different nursing schools. I would always pass the written exams and I will be invited for the oral interviews. That will be the end. After much frustrations, I changed my mind. Remember that to me, time was no longer on my side.

That was how I learned about a direct entry into the polytechnic in my city of residence. I then decided to go for accounting.

profession between 2004 to 2009

I came to love the course so much that I decided that I will become a professional accountant. It was a professional course and admired and dreamed of it so much so that I already started behaving like one. I will always go on suit and shoes into the lecture halls as If I was a banker then. Well, it went on until after my final exam in National Diploma. My dream was close to being fulfilled as I got an offer into the bank to carry out my industrial training.

I was really determined to be a chartered accountant. That was my dream but that will have to be after my Higher National Diploma. But that dream changed too after marriage.

Yes, towards the end of my Industrial attachment, I got married to a banker who comes back home very late and goes out very early. Gradually, I managed to finish off my remaining two years to obtain my final year diploma and went for my youth service. It was when I came back that I started taking care of the kids. Don't ask me whose kids please because am sure you know by now, haha 😂.

Profession from 2009 to 2019

I became a house wife for all the period but was still struggling to see if I can get a job. I was able to work in one or two places as Accountant. But I had a problem. My problem was working as if I am the owner of the company. Trying to get everything done without considering the family and this always made me to be back home because I will always find out that I can't handle both family and job at the same time.

With time, I started nursing the ambition of being self employed. Especially when my husband lost his job without mercy from the bank. I decided to venture into online businesses. I was told about Bitcoin but I wasn't interested then. I wanted a business where I can start earning imediately and not some sort of long term investment.

I lost some cool cash and finally, I found myself somewhere. Guess what?

I developed myself along the way by learning how to produce a lot of things like liquid soap, air freshener, handkerchief, scouring power, even printing ideas as a result of one of the places I worked. I became versatile that I can survive anywhere with all that I have learned.

July 2020 Till Date

Today, I mean now, my present profession is steem/steemit blogger. I am a full time steemian as you can attest. I blog with pride. I have my time to take care of my family and kids. My present profession has earned me much which I so much admire and appreciate.

I create original contents in steemit and get rewarded for it

I have made a lot of true friends both within and outside my country.

I promote steem to friends and neighbors. I learn from what others share and I keep making improvements.

I still have my side hustle, that of getting a printing job and executing it. That of producing Ari freshener and supplying to my clients

That of producing handkerchief and supplying to shops.

But steemit has become the main thing I do now.
I was lost but now found as it were. But that's not the end to professional development. I will keep making efforts to develop more and advance in my endeavors

The time I Spend In My Current Job

I work all round the clock. Only sleep takes me away. When an eating, I am checking my blog, when am walking on the way, I am on it, when am lying down, I am on it unless I sleep off. I still wake intermittently to check. Imagine the addiction. It's all because I don't take it as a burden. I enjoy it. It is fun to me. The members of my family have been attracted to steemit due to the way I take steemit. That is my buss top for now. Future will tell where the next move will be. But am here, am not going anywhere yet

CONCLUSION

I am glad to have taken part in this contest. I have been able to trace the background of my profession and I have told us the history behind some dreams I had. And now you know my current profession. Hope you like it?
