The story behind the design of the Republic of Indonesia's national flag has an interesting history. The Indonesian national flag is known as Sang Merah Putih, which consists of two main colors ,which are red at the top and white at the bottom. Here is the story behind the design of the Indonesian national flag :

At first, the Indonesian national flag was based on the flag of the Indonesian Association which was founded in 1908. The flag has the same colors as the Dutch flag ,namely red ,white and blue. However, because of its resemblance to the Dutch flag ,Indonesian nationalist leaders at the time felt the need To change the design of the flag to reflect their distinct national identity.

In 1928, at the Second Youth Congress held in Jakarta ,a Flag Committee was formed which was tasked with designing a new national flag for Indonesia. The committee consisted of several Indonesian youths ,including Soekarno ,one of the figures who proclaimed Indonesia's independence.

Soekarno and several other committee members designed the flag by combining meaningful elements. The red color represents courage and heroism, while the white color represents purity and honesty. In Soekarno's view, the red color represents the blood of the fallen warriors ,while the white color represents the spirit of purity they fought for.

In addition, the number of colors on the flag, that is, two colors, also has meaning. According to Soekarno ,the two colors symbolize the philosophy of Pancasila, namely the foundation of the Indonesian State which consists of five principles, namely Belief in One Almighty God, Just and Civilized Humanity, Indonesian Unity ,Democracy Led by wisdom of Wisdom in Deliberation/Representation ,and Social Justice for All Indonesian People.

After going through lengthy discussions, finally the flag design proposed by Sukarno and other committee members was approved and chosen as the Indonesian national flag. On August 17, 1945, during the proclamation of Indonesian independence ,The Red and White flag was raised for the first time and became an important symbol for the newly independent Indonesian state.

Since then, the Red and White flag continues to be a national symbol that is respected and upheld by the people of Indonesia. This flag symbolizes the spirit of independence, courage, unity and social justice ,and reminds of the struggle of the heroes in seizing and defending Indonesia's independence.

The national flag of the Republic of Indonesia ,known as Sang Merah Putih, has several symbols which Represent the Significance and significance for this country. the following is an Explanation of the symbols used in the Indonesian flag :

• Red Color :
  The red color on the Indonesian flag symbolizes courage, the spirit of heroism ,and the struggle of the heroes who died fighting for independence. This color also symbolizes the blood that has been shed To achieve independence and prosperity for the Indonesian people.

• White Color :
  The white color on the Indonesian flag symbolizes purity ,honesty and justice. This color also symbolizes the spirit of holiness which is the ideals and hopes of the Indonesian people in creating a just and civilized Society.

• Number of Colors :
  The Indonesian flag consists of two colors ,namely red and white. This number of colors symbolizes the philosophy of Pancasila, the foundation of the Indonesian state which consists of five principles. The two colors on the flag depict the unity between Pancasila as the basis of the state with the spirit of nationalism and independence.

• Simple and Simple :
  The design of the Indonesian flag is very Simple and Simple. It depicts The Simplicity and Modesty of The Indonesian people, as well as the Spirit of togetherness and unity In achieving common goals.

The Indonesian national flag contains a deep meaning and reflects the ideals and spirit of the Indonesian nation. It symbolizes the struggle and sacrifice of heroes, social justice ,the spirit of nationalism and unity in diversity. This flag is a symbol of national identity that is respected and upheld by the people of Indonesia.

One of the beautiful events that i experienced with the flag of the Republic of Indonesia was During the celebration of Indonesian Independence Day. Every year ,on the 17th of August ,the Indonesian people celebrate Their Independence Day with great Enthusiasm and passion.

On one of the Independence Day celebrations that I attended, I saw thousands of people gathering on the streets waving the Red and White flag. The atmosphere was so lively and full of nationalism. People from various social ,ethnic and religious backgrounds came together to celebrate their freedom and unity.

I was fascinated to see children, youths, adults and the elderly proudly holding the Indonesian flag, dressed in red and white, and singing patriotic songs with great enthusiasm. The atmosphere around me is filled with the spirit of togetherness ,unity and love for the country.

During the celebration, there are also various activities such as cultural parades, art performances, and competitions decorated with Indonesian flag decorations. I saw the beautiful red and white colors fluttering in the air ,adding joy and pride To my heart.

This beautiful incident made me realize how the flag of the Republic of Indonesia has Extraordinary symbolic power. This flag is able To unite people from various backgrounds and reminds us of the struggle of the heroes who have sacrificed everything To achieve Independence.

Seeing the Red and White flag fluttering and seeing the spirit of nationalism that radiates from every individual who raises it, I feel proud to be part of the Indonesian nation. The celebration of Independence Day is a beautiful and inspiring moment, reminding us of the importance of independence ,unity and the spirit of struggle that we must protect and preserve as Indonesian citizens.

In concluding remarks, the flag of the Republic of Indonesia is a symbol that evokes the spirit of nationalism, togetherness and struggle. Seeing the Red and White flag flying reminds us of the importance of maintaining the values ​​of unity, justice and honesty in society.
