Social media can simply be referred to as online platforms that allows users make amazing content and share them easily and it also allows it users to interact with people who are not necessarily within their locality but even globally.

Some of the benefits of social media to our society include:

1. It has made communication very easy and fast.

2. Social media has helped our society in getting information and news easily, it keep the society updated and current.

3. Promotion and advertisement of personal and corporate businesses and brands has become very easy and affordable with the help of social media.

4. It has made learning and sharing of knowledge very easy,, both students and teachers can go online to search for topics and get educated just by using social media platforms.

5. Social media has also facilitates better entertainment. You can be entertained by using any of these social media, tiktok, Facebook, YouTube etc at the comfort of your own zone.

The benefits of social media to our society cannot be overemphasized.

Social media has caused a lot of evils to our society, some of these evils are:

1. Social media have given scammers and frauders easy access to people's personal page, thereby making scams and fraud easy and rampant.

2. Easy spreading of unverified news and rumors because, social media has given it users the right to posts anytime anywhere, so long as they are connected to the Internet.

3. Social media has increased isolation in our society, especially socially, and there is high tendency addiction to social media.

4. Social media has made majority of the youth today very lazy in terms of intensive study and they have become unproductive as well.

Social media is beneficial for both common people and corporate companies because they both uses it for different purposes.

The corporate companies uses the social media to achieve a lot of things which includes;

1. The use social media as a medium for advertisement and an avenue for promotion of their brand.

2. Corporate companies use social media platforms as a medium for market research as well as analysis.

3. And lastly, corporate companies use social media as an avenue to market their products, manage their reputation and to also engage the customers too.

Whereas the common people in the other hand uses social media platforms for the following purposes;

1. They use social media to access information and resources easily and fast.

2. Social media serves as a medium for connecting with their friends and family who are not leaving close to them.

3. Common people also use social media platforms to be updated about the current happenings in and outside their country, and for the purpose of making new connections as well.
