Social media has influenced our lives in various ways individually by giving out both opportunities and challenges depending on our purpose or what we absorb from every social media platform. We use social media to connect, build brand’s promotion and communicate through sharing of information and interact with people without letting distance to form barrier. Once you distract yourself from the main purpose of social media by channeling your interest to where they spread misinformation or fix yourself where you are exposed to information that suits your beliefs only then there will be problem.

What are the Benefits of Social Media to our Society?

Since social media came into existence in this modern world, there are various benefits attached to it. Social media has been a powerful tool for business/ marketing opportunities, makes information easily accessible for both local and global update, it has also enable communication and encourages creativity in various field. Many are earning from social media from content creation and that's a huge benefit.

Personally, I use social media to promote my business and gather my audience from there. Through these platforms, my customers can easily connect with me without thinking about distance.

What are the Evils Caused by Social Media in our Society?

In as much as social media has been a useful tool that impacts the society positively, it also has some negative impacts but the good thing is that these evils caused by social media can be avoided with awareness.
Here are evils caused by social media in our society;

• Cyber bullying and harassment are getting out of hand in this present era. Many people get into depression because of social media trolling and hate speech ( most celebrities can attest to this)
• Privacy invasion
• Social media carries a lot of fake news
• It causes peer pressure
• It reduces productivity for those who are addicted.

Is Social Media Really Useful for Common People or Corporate Companies?

Social media is not specifically for a particular group of individuals, both common people and corporate companies can share in the benefits attached to social media but the difference between them is their purposes. Common people only visit social media to watch reels, stay in touch with people and access information of their interest.

However, corporate companies uses social media platforms to build brands, promote their businesses, get in touch with influencers and provide customer services.

Give your Personal Opinion and Conclusion About Social Media

We’ve all benefited positively from the power of social media and many has encountered the negative aspect of it. Few weeks ago, a friend of mine ordered for thrift wears on instagram, her goods were sent through dispatch rider. When she received them, she saw clothes with low quality and totally different from what she ordered. She voiced out, made complaints on different blogs about the brand, many shared their negative experience. At the end, she located the physical shop and the goods were changed.

This story featured two parts; the negative and positive impacts of social media. If she did not share her experience, she would have been scammed with low quality products. At the other hand, the power of social media helped her get value for her money and she was able to locate the physical shop.

Like I said earlier, your purpose of using social media determine what you get. Many are creating awareness about the evils caused by social media, get to read them and learn in order to avoid being one of the victim. Use social media responsibly and enjoy the benefits. Thank you!
